It is spacious but a bit plasticy, I also don't like the seats, I prefer the sports seats in the Octavia which mould round the sides. I don't like having a button as a hand break either.

I would still go for the Passat over the Mondeo andyway as IMO from the outside it looks nicer, All fords just look basic and the same to me.

Ive driven both cars extensively. I own a 2.0 passat and have hired a modeo for a good length of time.
The modeo is pokier, but the suspension is REALLY soft, to the point it feels like its going to topple over on tight corners.

btw shane, good choice for next car.

Thanks for the advice from both of you. Passat seems like a good bet then. I was really after one of those fancy Citroen C4 Picassos but I don't think it would be in the same car group and I'm not willing to shell out over $420 for the two weeks! :D

The Ibiza Cupra is powered by a tuned-up version of the VW Group's 1.4-litre turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine, putting out a feisty 180bhp through a seven-speed flappy-paddled DSG ‘box.

That's good for a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds - which is quicker than the Abarth Punto but just a bit slower than the Vauxhall Corsa VXR - and a top speed of 135mph.

The twin chargers are good news for economy and emissions: Seat claims a respectable 42mpg and 149g/km respectively.

But the Vectra isn't a bad car these cars, is it really?

If you can find me a bargain 95, then I would consider - prices on the 93 just seem rock bottom. Saying that, as it's something I intend to run in to the ground, maybe a 2 year old Vectra would fit the bill anyway?? I'm really not bothered at the moment - other things are taking priority over driving around like a tool :D

(for now anyway ... I'll probably last 6 months in a more normal car before I get bored!!)

That Vectra replacement isn't too bad, no, but the Vectra was undeniably the worst chassis in the Vauxhall range for a fair few years, and the chassis on the 93 is identical. I suppose a Diesel lump isn't exactly what you'd buy if good chassis performance was an issue though.

It's definitely going to hurt after the 350Z though.

Personally I'd recommend a 2 year old Laguna 175 GT Diesel. Great chassis and strong engine.

horrendous. worst car I have ever had. its not much of an exaggeration to say that in the 3 years I had it, it spent more time broken than fixed. electrics mainly, oh, and the fact that the tyres only lasted 4000 miles. I had 8 sets put on in 3 years. the last set I had put on in October, and had only done 3500 miles since then, and even Lewis Hamilton wouldn’t have driven on them, the were that slick

exhaust fell off the first week I had it, handbrake snapped, twice, indicators blew every other week, and various other issues too numerous to mention

when it was working, it was actually quite nice to drive, (if you excuse the 18.1 mpg) but a monumental pain in the arse to own

not to mention also the dealers being an absolute bunch of c*nts

edit-and the fact it depreciated by £30,000 in 3 years :(

Porsche Cayman S.

Although Jaguar Sovereign is the daily runner.

Time for some honesty like everyone else. Oh and stop going into posh car dealerships and taking photos the dealers don't like it and nor do their customers. Porsche Cayman? Better off with the Golf GTI pictured earlier on in the thread but if you want to pay an extra 30k for a badge and not to mention the rip off costs of servicing then fair play to you. Its a porsche but not as we know it. Jaguar Sovereign as well, where do you put your trilby and cushions when you go to collect your pension in the 'Porsche'?

Has he gone yet? Phew, here are the daily runner and Mrs' car as well.

The 'German Taxi' as my Mercedes E300D is affectionately known by my mates. Cheap to buy and run, only problem is the tin worm which might need looking at; still not bad for a 15 year old car. Next step hopefully the E500 lhd drive only Porsche fettled beasty. I save my money for my motorbikes and travelling.

And the worst car on forum goes to...

Nah it's alright really, old man bought it for £50 a few years ago, drove it for a bit then gave it to me last year... Just needs a new exhaust and new number plates, it's wing mirror fitted on again and a bit of a paint job down by the door, but other than that it's perfect as a first car... Now just need to get my license! T-cut it and waxed it yesterday, looks all nice and shiny.

OK 08 plate 2.0 Mondeo Zetec hatchback. Had from new. Can't fault it. Mrs Winnersaint has 07 Fiesta. Good enough for the driving she does. My main wheels at the moment is a Specialized Hardrock mountain bike. How it makes me smile as I go through Wokingham on my way to work seeing petrol stations with £1.05 a litre proudly displayed. Not enforced in any way just wasn't getting to the gym so cancelled that membership and started cycling to work 3-4 days a week. 70 mins round trip.

ive only had it 2 and a half weeks, still driving round with a big grin on my face :D

the cayenne, where do i ****ing start. it was the 3.2v6, but the problems are on the S as well. its only the turbo that seems to be ok

biggest problem was tyres. i went through 9 sets in 3 years, about 30,000 miles. unbelievable. porshce wouldnt have it that there was something wrong with it, and ive since discovered other owners have had similar problems.

end electrics. literally every week something would fail. indicators mainly. not the biggest deal, but bloody annoying taking it to the dealership every five minutes when you have got work to do

oh, and the delears are an absolute bunch of complete and utter cants

and you are right about the depreciation, mine dropped 29k in 3 years

apart from all that i loved it

TBF SoB, the thread has become a "my **** is bigger that yours" thread.

EDIT: Im saying this as Pancake the poster and reader, not Pancake the Mod.

Exactly, its not so much a thread about cars (which I enjoy discussing) but a thread of oneupmanship. Personally, if I had the money to spend on an Aston Martin (I would buy a Maserati btw) I wouldn't put it up on here and would be a tad more self-deprecating. There is a fine line between loving your car and sharing it with others than being the stereotypical example of small penis syndrome.

Also if you put up a big 4x4 as your choice of transport and mention that you enjoy hitting the bridleways expect a bit of grief from other users of bridleways like hikers, riders etc who have had their quiet rural pursuits away from the roads and traffic ruined by churned up paths now mud baths. I will also say don't buy a huge 4X4 if you can't drive them or decide to drink and drive they are lethal in any event as anyone who has done the school run recently with the 'posh' Mum's upgdraded from their SLK's to their XC90's, Touregs, Q7's etc.

Just an opinion on motoring on a motoring forum SoB.

Ponty it's not sniping merely posting an opinion based on observations. Not sure if you've had the pleasure of the school run but either way I can assure you half the people driving them and probably more don't seem to know the size of their vehicle.

Regards oneupmanship posting a picture of your Aston Martin is one thing blanking out just half the number plate so we can all apprecaite Keith's initials I presume on a private plate is taking it to another level of look at me.

Swanny, it's not jealousy just a dislike of those who have done well for theselves except retain some humility. Flash and crass and that is merely an observation on human behaviour and those living the stereotype.

As for Son of Bob deleting my posts thats up to him but I guess he took offence at my 4X4 comments and owning some hideous huge box which by his own admission he doesn't use off road day to day. Which I thought was wrong in this day and age compounded by his admission that at weekends when he enjoys taking it off road and no doubt destroying the countrytside that should in my opinion be reserved for those with less damaging pursuits. If I remember he uses it on Salisbury Plain where the bridleways are in a real mess even away from the MOD zones which you would expect to be bad. Perhaps he could donate it to the Army so they could us it in their training as a small Afghan house.

4x4s have a place if you live in the countryside or have an interest eg Horse riding where they are a prerequisite. School runs and recreational offroading then they are an anachronism and selfish indulgence that are used at times IMO to give a feeling of safety to those inside but with little regard to those outside.

Personal digs - not at all I just don't agree with what is being posted in some instances.

I see your point to an extent, but this is not the main board and there are rarely more than 1 or 2 people viewing this part of the forum at any point in time. This special interest sub forum is to discuss all things motoring and I think it is useful to know what people drive as this can add some perspective to their posting.

For instance, any comment made by Ponty on F1 is given a whole load of credence considering his profession. If there is a discussion about motorbikes, then surely the debate is given more credibility if the contributors are known to actually own or ride bikes? Likewise for cars. Say you were looking to buy an Octavia or a Passat and were canvassing opinion, wouldn't it be better to know that advice/comments given by owners of such cars would be more credible?

So while it is useful to know what people drive (or pupport to drive) perhaps if people just posted the detail of their cars rather than "in your face" pictures that would make it more acceptable?

I agree with most of what you say JB although I don't actually have a problem with people posting pictures of their cars and perhaps explaining why they own that particular make and model. That would help those looking perhaps to change their cars and perhaps broaden their horizons. For instance I would not consider buying anything from Korea but lots of people do and the warranties are second to none - is that because they need to be or are they are so good the manufacturers can afford to be confident in their product? When I had needed to go the people carrier route I went the safe Zafira and Galaxy options but would not have considered the Sedona or the 3 French/Italian options wth different badge names.

That said as Pancake suggested there has been an escalation of manhood waving with the Aston pictures (twice) and with the obvious half blanked number plate it is very much the old concept of the nouveau riche. If I owned such a car I would be very careful how I posted its details as I'm not a person who subscribes to the maxim 'if you've got it flaunt it'. More if you've got it acknowledge how lucky you are to be in that position and give an idea of the whole buying experience, running costs, driving experience on public roads and including the disadvantages but be proud of it by all means.

Finally, if people drive 4x4's isn't is reasonable to ask why they drive 'cars' the size of a Transit when a decent estate or good sized hatchback would be a far more sensible option for town and city dwellers who may only go off road to park on the pavements of their local school or a grassy gar park occassionally.

I live in a rural area and there are loads of big 4x4s but in winter our roads flood badly with run off from the fields and a lot of people have outdoor pursuits, jobs and interests that demands such a vehicle. That said most don't amd most don't tear up the countryside for the 'enjoyment' - including myself .

IMO luxury cars at which most can only drool over and dream about and over sold 4x4's should be subject to a road tax nearer £2000pa and not the £400 or whatever the highest rate is these days. The gap is not proportional to those who drive a small family hatchback in the £150 - £200 bracket.

Sorry went off subject there a bit but yes I agree with you but the pictures are good as long as they are genuine which can only be supported by a liitle more information from the poster and one who is prepared to discuss their choice of transport without getting overly defensive.

Most of us will never experience owning a luxury or top end sports car like the Aston or have any idea what it is like running it over say 3 years and is it worth the expense of 2 bedroom house and in this case how can you adapt from the worse 4x4 on the road (followed by the Q7 and Toureg) to a cramped Aston?

It might be interesting to know what people's annual mileage is in these cars as one would assume that owning a really fast expensive car you might want to really enjoy it and get it out at every opportunity. Is the reality that you save them for special occasions?

I do agree with the comments about 4x4s, they are rarely used for their actual design purpose and to my mind hint at SOME of their owners not being confident in their own driving ability and hence overcompensating. Or is it possibl that their spouses don't trust their other halves with their kids safety so buy their partner these tanks to take them to school in?

Dog seems to have cracked it I would say.

so then 19c, who told you you had the moral highground? and who made you judge and jury?

tbh, i thought very long and hard about whether to post up a picture of it.

but this is the motoring forum, not the muppet show. a forum for people who like cars, like their own cars, and like looking at and talking about other peoples cars

its not about oneupmanship or dickswinging, its about an appreciation of a beautiful thing. something that some people like to look at and discuss, as we have all done with our cars. i could have posted a pic of my 94 L reg discovery, but i guess that wouldnt have met with your approval either

and yours is the one and only negative comment i have had since i have had it, which probably reflects as much on you as it does on me

theres no big deal about the number plate, other than i dont want to put my full reg details on the internet. its no big deal to most people who know me, as ive had it on my cars since 2001

there have been some great cars on this thread, some old, some new, some expensive, some cheap, so large, some small, but really the only chippy comment on 135 posts has come from you

yes, i cant really afford it, and i should probably have done something about my £40,000 negative equity instead, but - you only live once, and nothing will take away the pleasure and joy of ownership

I have to admit I was reticent about the Sedona but I have had it for a year and a half now and it's proved to be a damn good car, I have had no problems with it whatsoever.
I looked at the other people carrier options and for the budget I had available at the time the Sedona was the best by far.
For the same money I could have got a Zafira / Galaxy but it would have been 2 or 3 years older and would have had around 80k miles on the clock.
The Sedona was under 2 years old with only 10k miles and over a year's warranty on it.
It was my good experience with the Kia that prompted me to look at Hyundai this year.

As for your point about tax, I couldn't agree more.
I have 4 children so I am limited in my choice of a 'family' car.
I have to pay £400 per year to tax the Kia; that level of tax is supposed to be punitive. However I feel I am being punished for having a large family rather than for driving a petrol guzzling performance car.

Incidentally 19C, I believe that your comment that you 'would not consider buying anything from Korea' makes you guilty of vehicular snobbery; and therefore a bit hypocritical in light of some of the comments you have made about other people in this thread.

Incidentally 19C, I believe that your comment that you 'would not consider buying anything from Korea' makes you guilty of vehicular snobbery; and therefore a bit hypocritical in light of some of the comments you have made about other people in this thread.

Indeed, well spotted. No doubt he'll try to tell you that I turned him into a brand snob.

Block 5 I probably didn't phrase the Korea thing well. When I was in your position I went the safe option and wouldn't have consider Kia or Hyundai. Had this forum been around at the time your assessment of you car would have turned me in the direction of the nearest Kia dealership. Its good to know their warranties are long because they have faith in their product as oppose to a from of incentive to get people to buy them. I was in no way offending your choice of car and sorry if it came across that way.

For the record I think the Hyundai I20 is great little car and I doubt there is a better first car or runabout than the I10. The Kia Soul is quite funky and not far off the C3 picasso if you need a car of that type. The Kia Cee'd and i30 are really upping the ante and a far better value option than a Focus or for that matter an Audi A3, BMW 1 series or Merc A Class. However, where they start to fall down is the big saloons but small to medium hatchbacks and 7 seaters then I agree they are a serious option trouble is I'm in between the two and i would not consider a Sonata.

Not at all JB (but you did a bit). Badly worded on my part I was simply trying to get my point across that if owners gave a little genuine insight into why they bought the car and their owning experience it may help those looking to buy a new car as oppose to the look at me and half blank out my number plate.

I would never consider buying anything from Korea but IMO you can't beat endorsements form actual owners and for one insane moment even had me searching on Auto Trader for 5 series estates. Sorry JB they are massively overpriced even in base trim.

so then 19c, who told you you had the moral highground? and who made you judge and jury?

tbh, i thought very long and hard about whether to post up a picture of it.

but this is the motoring forum, not the muppet show. a forum for people who like cars, like their own cars, and like looking at and talking about other peoples cars

its not about oneupmanship or dickswinging, its about an appreciation of a beautiful thing. something that some people like to look at and discuss, as we have all done with our cars. i could have posted a pic of my 94 L reg discovery, but i guess that wouldnt have met with your approval either

and yours is the one and only negative comment i have had since i have had it, which probably reflects as much on you as it does on me

theres no big deal about the number plate, other than i dont want to put my full reg details on the internet. its no big deal to most people who know me, as ive had it on my cars since 2001

there have been some great cars on this thread, some old, some new, some expensive, some cheap, so large, some small, but really the only chippy comment on 135 posts has come from you

yes, i cant really afford it, and i should probably have done something about my £40,000 negative equity instead, but - you only live once, and nothing will take away the pleasure and joy of ownership

Apart from the Bailliffs perhaps? £40k of negative equity? All I can say is don't expect a house price rally anytime soon and I hope your mortgage isn't up for renewal as you may need to downsize. My advice sell the private plate, you can only show off half of it on here anyway and seriously what is the point of them? Is it to do with the fact you only blanked out half where everyone else blanks the whole plate if they need to? Probably the single biggest waste of money in ego massage. Keith it's tacky and with £40k of negative equity a tad over-indulgent as it won't offer much of a roof over your head.

I'm not sure your post is genuine as that negative equity won't get any better for a few years minimum and the car will drain your bank account even if you never move it off your drive. I hope you are not as dumb as you sound.

I have a golf gti that I use for work. I have an Audi RS4 that I got the mrs to cart the kids to school and tow a horsebox. I have a Range Rover that I use for fishing, shooting, hunting and just having fun off roads, it's just a pleasure vehicle that I use accross the fields at weekends. And finally I have a Jaguar XKR in red which I use to get from pub to pub in.

Sorry did I mention that they were all under 12 months old ?

Now that is a lovely car.

Not bad but I would probably prefer not to be borrowing 140% of my property value in the current climate and drive something a little more frugal until the dark economic clouds begin to clear a little.

Thanks for posting that again VFTT as I think it endorses my view that the way the KG has been left delicately preserved from that heavy brush stroke that it is more about 'mine is bigger than your's' than sharing pictures of what indeed is a lovely car. All a bit Boycie isn't it?

Still don't they say 'pride before a fall'? Prime car less than sub-prime mortgage on it's way unless it's on a 10 year fixed.

The point is 19C, that this in not a thread to discuss personal opinions on what you should or shouldn't drive or peoples penis size. It's a thread for people to tell us what they drive and, if they're particularly proud of it, perhaps post a picture. People should be able to do this without fear of personal attack from other forum members.

If you have strong feelings on people driving exotica or 4x4's by all means start a thread and we can all have an informed and interesting discussion. This is far preferable to hijacking this particular thread wouldn't you agree? In fact, if you start a new thread I'll be happy to transfer your posts on this thread over rather than delete them. (I can't say fairer than that)

On a personal note, I don't drive on bridleways as I'm also a keen mountain biker and appreciate the need to keep these in good condition. I use the MOD training tracks, which are heavily rutted (and will continue to be so whilst they are used by 50 ton Army tanks) or I stick to the main gravel tracks. I also regularly have to set up IT systems in PortaCabins for building sites, festival sites and various other, very muddy, very slippery areas. I need to be able to get right up to the cabins to get the quipment to them and a car simply would not be able to do that.

Finally, I will delete all the posts above unless you wish to start up a seperate thread to discuss the opinions you have. I have no problem with the points you're making as it's an interesting topic for discussion but I'd just prefer it if they were removed from this thread so they don't waste pages of space.

Thanks.

SOB, the trouble is it works both ways and how can you vouch for every post on this thread that is genuine. That is apart from Hamster's as I don't know many people who will admit to driving a banana split on wheels. ;) Even RedandWhite was probably ashamed deep down of his White EVO VII so posts up a picture of his next door neighbour's Fiesta, who knows unless you ask?

Far better to have this thread stand alone but for posters to add a little back ground behind their reasons for owning their car and experiences to date. For instance I am interested in the C2 owner's view of their car and running cost etc as a first car to own, insurance fnance costs etc etc. People who post a picture of a car and say this is mine and half blanked out number plates etc are IMO a tad lacking in .... well you work it out.

Thanks for the info on your recreational use of your bungalow on wheels and it's good to hear you use the MOD tracks only. I suppose for authenticity you drive it with your head out of the sunroof. I was walking part of the Ridgeway at the weekend and its been destroyed from the grassy tracks it once was thanks to 4x4s and for what purpose? Pity you couldn't have provided the info earlier which would have avoided any negative comment and btw you use it for your work would have done minus the core responsibilities of your job and all that.

To be honest Bob the people who seem to take the most offence at my posts are those who have the most to hide or own the most controversial vehicles the rest are happy to discuss the plus and minus points of their cars. Even Hamster can enjoy the wind in his hair in summer, I can't unless I buy some glue for my wigs, that's head and chest.

I remain unsure under what criteria you are deleting my posts other than the fact you personally don't like them. I suppose if the all the mods took that action posters would eventually get fed up taking the time to write their opinions and walk away. Nearly every thread that gets posted goes off topic occassionally and that means you have a lot of deleting to do and in any event I don't consider there is anything wrong in questioning or challenging owners about the cars that they drive. In fact it's very interesting to read the responses and you can tell a lot about a person and the car that they drive. I've learned that Hamster is a better man than me and doesn't give a stuff as long as he is enjoying himself and that Johnnu Bognor isn't Tom Selleck in disguise and damn near converted me to a BMW until an antidote was duly administered via the threat of divorce. Didn't have the heart to tell her who makes her Mini.

It says you're driving a ladies car and to make it worse one that looks like a bowl of custard. The fact you drive it at all let alone own up to it is testament to the type of man you are. What a load of old drivel. If you're interested in specific cars and how they perform, PM the person. I frequent many forums on the net and we have threads such as 'post a pic of yerself' or 'what do you drive' or 'where do you live' and have never seen the type of rubbish that you're spouting. Why do you feel it's your right to question people on whether they have posted their own car or just one from a garage - does it really upset you that much?

You sure it's not your inadequacies that's the problem here and you're trying to deflect it by having arguments with others about the car they may or may not drive?

Well I went mad and bought two new cars for cash in the last few months

Before I had a Rover 200SD Diesel Turbo Jan 99 reg (had since new) and a Vauxhall Astra Economy 1.6 Petrol Jan 96 reg

Puchased a new Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.8TSI Petrol. Top speed 138 mph 0-60 in 7.8 secs. Plenty of extras. Been driving it for about 3,000 miles so far and very satisfied.

Also bought my wife a new Vauxhall Corsa Active 1.2 Petrol.

I am now broke but happy ;)

If you see me pass you on the motoway (unlikely in that car!) you'll see me slow down as there are more and more Octavia's on the road that are unmarked police cars! A good purchase and 3k miles is pretty impressive !

Why did you buy a bus? Do you need it for work if so what are your main tasks whilst using it. Great for communting though using those bus lanes provided Johnny B hasn't parked his BMW in one to get his paper.;)

I agree to a point Mr C. but it is not just someone's wheel's that reveal their inner self (warts and all). Please explain your use of thie word in bold? You are cleverer that you let on I reckon ;-)

If ever you want to borrow it just ask.

fwiw I have always chosen our cars apart from twice before.

One time mrs h knew that I fancied a Discovery, so as a 'surprise' she bought one on EBay. One slight error on her part though, as what she'd actually bought was a 3.5 litre ratty Range Rover kitted out for off-roading (bull-bars et al), thankfully the thing ran on LPG so we managed to afford to run it for a while before the gearbox went. Also had to train to Swansea to collect it and the coil packed up just this side of the Severn Bridge.

The oother time was when my nipper took her down the car auction. When I got home from footie she proudly led me down the garden to and said she had a surprise for me in the garage. I was genuinely expecting a little felatio!! There within lie a Rover 213, rad water ****ing all over the floor and one mirror hanging off. Got thirty quid for it down the scrappy.

Anyway, my track record is no better so when mrs h fell in love with a bright yellow car I thought what the hell, it'll break down within a coule of months and i can get a man car again. We've been lucky (or maybe not) that it has been trouble free for more than 2 years now.

I also like the feel of leather on my thighs when I wear shorts.

And the best sensation in the thigh department being leather shorts without a doubt. It's a shame that Lederhosen (sp) are not viewed as socially acceptable (on many levels) garments.

Back on topic; my next car, if money were no object, would be a convertible jag either the XK8 or XKR, the cheaper one..( I think it's the XK8?). Gorgeous, sexy, well built and in a not quite so brash metallic green or red.

Hi mate - no worries. I picked up my C2 in September 2006 brand new & I can honestly say it's been as reliable & trustworthy as anything. In the 3 years I've had it - I have had 2 official Citroen recalls; the first was for some little plug/switch somewhere in the engine bay & the other for a small part of the ABS unit which was simply swapped-out. Other than that - personally no problems whatsoever. Being the 1.6 VTR model with the paddle-shift & with the car weighing about 3Kg in total - it sure is quick! I was going to buy another Citroen as this one's been so good but the C2 is coming to an end soon. I've never been a big fan of Ford really but the new Fiesta (in 'Squeeze' metallic green) looks good with all the body kit & I've only ever read great reviews on the car so decided to go with that. However good it turns out to be - I can't see me keeping it for 3 years like I have the C2 because I love the looks of the new DS3 which starts selling here in the UK next March. I reckon on waiting until 2011 (when any teething problems for the DS3 are ironed-out) & then it's off to Yeomans Citroen in Fareham and my order for one!

Minty... What's the car btw? It's look like one of those they use in insurance commercials that no one recogonises. Is it a Proton?

lol, well I wouldn't have recognised it either before I bought it.

It's a Mazda 323f 2.0 diesel. Simple, reliable, roomy, and something I should be able to convert to run on veggie oil as a bit of a project next year.

Fair play to you for that. Stupid question but how do you source the veggie oil? Are you visiting takeaways and such like and if so do they give the stuff away?

Restaurants have to pay to have their used cooking oil removed, so yes they will usually give it away.

I didn't think all grades of oil were collected for a fee. The high grade stuff is taken back, cleaned up a bit and then sold again as low grade stuff. Do you really know that the distributors are charging for getting the high grade stuff back?

I was watching one of those tv programmes following traffic police and they had a couple of owners who had their number plates cloned having put pictures of their cars on Autotrader and the Petrolheads forum.

They were subsequently receiving parking tickets and congestion charge fines as other people used a copy of their plates on similar cars.

Good luck you lot. ;)

Hi TDD, and thanks - bit of both really.

I do 50,000 miles a year and do have a commuting car (currently a BMW X5) but TBH the exige tempts me into it a lot and I have put 32,000 miles on it in 18 months (!).

It is my second Exige in a row, sold the first after 30k miles and bought this supercharged one.

Not really an car for commutes and every day but then I hate just having something sat there hardly used, I just don't think you get the pleasure or value for money, so I do use it a lot. It is hopeless in snow and not great in standing water (see the tyres - cut slicks).

cheers,

Adrian

Cortina was free, as was the engine and gearbox i dropped into it, Cost of MOT's last 2 years? £20 for one bit of welding on rear of a cill, Bung a bit of oil and water in it. Never wash it or clean it out. Insurance FULLY COMP. for all 5 cars on multi car insurance. £334 the lot. mK1 Escort is tax free.

People want me to buy a new car, that immediatly losses 20% value the second I buy it. Pay a fortune to service it at the main dealer to keep up the warranty. Insurance an absolute fortune, and still end up with a souless peice of japannesse/taiwanesse/french junk. No thank you.... I may be completely stupid, but I haven't yet had my brains removed through my ass. :-)

It is for sale...... BUT
As I might have said Cortina is not at its best condition... Has only covered 60 something thousand miles.... Underneath it is as solid as a rock (Ziebarted from new) Runs a treat with 2.0 litre sierra injection engine and 5 speed box. (UNLEADED) Lowered 2 inch on uprated springs and running laser capri 4 spokes (like RS Escorts)... Interior is good condition and never been smoked in to my knowledge. Was my dads before me. But between my dad stopping driving and me acquiring it it sat in a barn with holes in the roof driiping rain onto the bodywork for 10 years, giving areas of surface rust. My nephews then rolled a tractor tyre into the N/S rear wing putting a dent in it. My mate described it as 'The just dragged out of a scrap yard look' which is not a too inaccurrate description. The bodywork is solid but scabby.
It does however just keep going, and has MOT till early November (i think) and taxed till end of April. It is bags of fun, and you can leave it anywhere.
If you or anyone is interested just give me PM.

We do intend to bring 34046 down to Southampton either later this year or in 2011, to revisit her old stamping grounds, once all the running in etc is complete.

I like em but I know they aren't popular. Imo if you want a mini people carrier for kids - which is basically what they are - they are more interesting than most. Also because lots of people dont like them they are cheap secondhand and with a 2.2litre Mercedes turbo diesel engine it goes well and still gets 40mpg. I dont drive it for fun, I have the Alfa for that.

Got myself a SAAB 9-5 Aero a few weeks back and gave the Accord to my wife.

The mid-range shove still surprises me on a daily basis.

I am guessing that those two 'pope-mobiles' are for his upcoming UK tour later this year. The top one for his trip to Southampton and the other perhaos for a jaunt in Pompey.

Can't hel also but to note that he's gone for a German model now!! Maybe harks back to his Hitler Youth days??

Nice. Looks like you could have entered that in the recent Formula DRIFT Singapore 2010 event in your neck of the woods. ;)
