Well I've read threads on Trottman and Harding but not seen one on our new midfield accusition.

For the people who have been at the games can you share your thoughts on him... His strengths, weaknesses. Granted it's only been the 2 games ?

Only seen him against Brentford...

He is certainly an improvement on Wotton in pretty much every area (mobility, tackling, positioning, passing) but he didn't exactly look like a class player. His passing was sometimes a bit rushed and I would like to think it wasn't one of his better performances.

It was his first game with new team mates and I'm sure that element will improve, as will his attacking contribution as he develops an understanding with James.

Definitely a positive signing and the sort of player we needed. If he brings the best out of James and/or Schneiderlin then that will be excellent news for us.

I think we just need an out-and-out wide player to finish the midfield off now.

Fair comment I'd say .

Saw him at Stockport looked like just what we need.

Solid
strong
broke up play when they had the ball
Rattled a few of their players
could pick a pass
and tried to spread the play out wide

Solid, dependable and unspectacular...excatly what we need.

And never stopped barking order, seemed to read possible danger before it happened

The way he runs reminds me of Anders Svennson !
I thought he played well in the Brentford game and expect that he will become a real lynchpin in our midfield. He has all-round qualities, keeps his head up whilst running which is a great asset when making 'killer' passes !

I'd agree with all of that. The only concern I had against Brentford was that he continually looked for the sideways/backwards pass.

That might have been because of lack of movement ahead of him or because he didn't know his team mates well enough. I'd like to think he's going to get the ball forward quicker as he beds in.

He didn't shirk a challenge either. A good acquisition I'd say and better than Wotton which is good enough for me.

I thought he was a future captain in the making, just what we needed in midfield.

I must say, thinking about it now, AP has done brilliantly with his signings. Harding has been fantastic everytime i've seen him play, Murty scared me at first looking fat and old (harsh I know) but slimmed down/improved rapidly and is incredibly solid, Trotman not seen but sounds great, as does Hammond and Lambert was the WOW signing and pretty much proved himself on his debut. That just leaves Mellis, perhaps the weakest? Looking forward to seeing some of the new aquisitions now we have some home games and i'm back off hol. All in all pretty spot on, well done AP (but please don't play Paterson on the wing)!

Thought Hammond was much improved from the Brentford game, where he was a little anonymous but on Saturday he was much better. Solid, reads the game and can pass well, organises well and put in a few meaty tackles. Certainly the type of player we need and him and James looked very solid in midfield until we start to sit off near the end and there wasn't enough closing
