All the Middle East investors and businessmen now have only 3 months to close out their annual plans and budgets. Having slept through the summer and Ramadan, commercial activity will begin to pick up speed very quickly.

Well who knows what they do, are the "takeoverers" therefore suggesting that our medical team is not up to scratch?

I would suspect that the "takeoverers" are getting a bit jumpy because things are not going as planned (ie we're actually winning a few matches) and that they might not get the club for the knockdown price they can afford. If Fulthorpe's 'consortium' really does consist of US, Canadian and German funders, I'd be pretty amazed, quite frankly, at the suggestion that the money, if it ever was, is sitting quietly in a bank account, just waiting for Lowe to sign off.

It's hard enough to borrow money for an ice cream over here right now - let alone an English football club with all the 'basket-case' economics that go with it.

In fact this is what football needs, a major European club to be wiped out of existence.West Ham would be most people's favourite.With football debt running at 3 billion or so, the only way back to reason is for a front line club to
crash. When compared to Man U,Chelsea and Liverpool, who apparently have a billion in debts between them ,our 30 million (including a long term mortgage) is a mere trifle.

Any of these deals that involved leveraged loans and length of loans that the buyers could have expected to be automatically rolled over may find their lenders don't have the money available any longer.

Look on the bright side - maybe Barclays or NU will go bust and we don't have to pay them back ...

I agree. The current malaise in the property market is a golden opportunity for some to buy development land and indeed stocks and shares at the bottom of the market and bide their time for the upward swing that is bound to follow.

yes but when there is SO much destruction and despair in property why add to the cost by buying a football club which is at the end of the day a bottomless pit of needing money...

1) They have to be able to buy the land at rock bottom prices - don't see Rupe's selling Staplewood for 50p yet and not sure the coal board pension fund is that keen to lose money, and with construction dropping why would RMC want to move out?.
2) They could probably buy half built houses/offices at rock bottom from existing developers who are overstretched (some are selling places off less than half price)


Oh and 3) here's one to make everyone think.

When does the Jacksons Farm option expire? How likely are Bovis to take up the option? And finally why sell to a developer when you have the experience on your own board and you have 3 years of recession to play with the politics opf planning approvals.......

This now means that following the sad demise of LLS, the abject failure of Seymour Pierce, and the decision of Zabeel to invest into Charlton, we now have only one person left onto whom all our hopes of finding investment have fallen.

I think it’s safe to say that a takeover of Southampton Football club is NOT happening anytime soon. Most of us would love it to be true, but the sad reality is no one is going to save us, especially now with the current global economic crisis. There is no one who is going to splash the cash with little chance of seeing any kind of return of any money they put in.

Fulthorpe does not have the money or any other buyers in place to buy us out
Nor are there any other people interested in buying us anytime soon. I wish there where, I really do because saints are a mess right now but the truth is its not happening. I would love to be proved wrong and hope I am but as far as I can see it’s never going to happen.

I think its time to end this thread it’s become pointless but I think pigs might fly before this thread is closed!
