The other thread is a bit big so I'm sure a new one for the 'reaction' is appropriate.

The first batch of pics, including most of the goals and nickh's 'sending off', are all on this link:

8.5 photos/second (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0508/05082208canoneos1dmkiin.asp) to be precise. They're a bit old now but there are still some pro sports photographers using them because they don't trust the focusing on the newer models.

Who is that long haired woman on the ground when the away team scored ? I didn't know it was

Now you lot know what it must be like to play for that lot down the M27, they play in front
of lots of empty seats.

Would just like to say thanks to Steve Grant for organising this again, was a fantastic night. Obviously there were a few tactics from the away side to unsettle us, like making us change in a little side room off of the home dressing room. I feel these tactics brought the home side closer together however and with Eugene as captain we could do no wrong! Well done to Nickh for giving us the freedom to play football not seen around this way for a long time.

Brilliant night again and well done to all involved.

Video?! Wash your mouth out... Still photography only! ;)

And it's worth pointing out that 8.5 frames a second only helps if you know how to frame and focus the shot in the first place! For most shots I'd only usually shoot a burst of 3 or 4 shots max.

Pretty much up there alongside Rule 1.

In football, a manager is not allowed to enter the field of play to pass instructions to his team, and pretty closely followed by A Manager is not allowed to interfere with play by pulling the shirt of a player trying to take a throw-in. Both of which should have been Red Card offences LONG before the Moaning One incident.

Otherwise, pretty sound performances all round

Uh no, in fact I have been fulsome in my praise for their performance.

I believe the phrase "they thrashed us in the first half" would be an understatement. Thought we may still be able to get back into it but we decided to perform a bout of one touch micro passing between 3 players being challenged by 6 attackers and woosh that was the 4th goal and game over.

But running on the pitch? hmmm even the Lino felt he should have got a red for that and was trying to get at the ref to tell him, unfortunately the ref was breaking up (another) scrap involving Influenced.Com :D

That would keep, but organising the team so that we didnt let your lot back in with a sniff.
As for the shirt pulling incident, JustMike had time and again taken the throwins much further up the pitch than the ball had gone out and so it was a way of stopping him doing so again.

He tries hard to cover it up, but in fact that was nickh's problem - he's so myopic he thought the 5-a-side pitch that ran up to the centre circle was the technical area.

Why were you playing at RB? You were nodding my crosses into all four corners during the warm up, you should have been playing up front instead of Marian Grant. :)

Guys, give it a rest. We all know that Minty and most of the players from that evening now all have new lives as Professional Footballers & Photogrpahers up the road doing their bit to ensure the Blue Few's embarassment continues.

It is also TSW's secret plan - Granty put a fiver accumulator on the few losing all their first five games by 10-0 or more so he could set up a fund to give installment plans for our worse off fans and also to buy out ML so that DBP can become the chairman he believes we need

Phil, my boy, I have a passion to win. My team of tigers outfought your toothless and un-motivated team (I call it a team loosely)
I have heard through the grapevine that it was my Churchillian speech that motivated my team to play 'total football'
The referee for some reason , took my shouting to him advice and explanation of where he was going wrong with his decisions the wrong way. You can't help some people!, You try and educate them and they turn on you.
I was not sent off, the referee clearly said 'Nick after your wonderful pre-match team-talk, your team of braves are steamrolling Phil's lot. would you mind sitting down so he can at least look as though he is effective.'

I still believe that was THE single toughest moment of my professional Managerial Career (both fantasy at SMS & in real life). The ref is ordering Nick to the stands and I manage to keep looking out at him and the pitch with a straight & serious football manager face on.....

Couldn't keep it up when I turned round to look at the crowd... PMSL

Glad you guys got yours. I have to wait for my next freebie BA trip - back home on 22nd Sept on the way to Daughter's engagement party & a conference in the US. But will enjoy watching it on my laptop on the way across the pond.

And yes there were some magical moments in the warm up - fook me - 15 years playing and I NEVER hit a left footed volley, let alone to blast one into the back of the net at SMS.... Made an old man almost as happy as having a much younger GF

Having finally got my copy, I have to say that the most contentious moment of the game, IMO, barring the foul that never was.. at 11:56 into the second half.. my (fantastic) dink over the top still looks a very close call to me. I can see that it's tight but it's basically in line. We was robbed.

NEVER off side

Loved ever minute of it.

And actually, watching that, there's no intent at all, he just caught his foot on.. was it Dr Zeuss(?)'s thigh!

More my rock hard buttocks

This is the moment, although it's a shame the actual sending off wasn't caught on camera. Basically it's the bit when everyone is laughing.

charming, at least the bit of your attempt of cheating by kicking off in our half is shown. It also shows some ediiting was done as one minute granty is limping down the touchline and then the next he is waiting for the kick off.
I think the game was summed up perfectly by my interview.

It is only now, after seeing that clip I realise how low nickh really managed to stoop in his desire for revenge. No wonder the Away team were at 6's and 7's. My advice to the defenders - If in Doubt Kick it Out was totally screwed up by the fact that there were 4 sets of touchlines painted onto the fecking pitch.

How much did THAT cost you nickie boy? To stoop Sooooooo Lowe

I enjoyed Arizona coming on late on in the second and being so confused by the lines that he attempted to position himself in the opposition half for kick off :)

I just happened to point that out to the ref and he took a bit of um bridge.
My team had run rings around the away side so much it is understandable that they didn't know where they were. The biggest surprise was that Phil actually got the refs permission to bring a sub on!!!

I was being serious anyway. Our keeper was a quality shot-stopper. I think he once played at a decent level. If you're talking about the home team keeper, Lee, though... yeah. He's just a ponce. A silly ponce. Ponce.

The 'nimble' point is a fair one. And bear in mind that some 'cracking' looking saves owe more to poor positioning and luck.

I know this because I was an incredibly gifted goalkeeper who didn't rely on luck, just on ability.

Can't wait to show you lot up next year. Count me in.

when was offside deemed as unfair. Just because the Dr was too lazy to keep onside. Our keeper and defence didnt try and stop it as they play to the refs whistle. The pass was a miskick if the rest of your game is anything to go by.....kidding but I did notice quite a lot of ginger against the floodlights

at my age!!!! if you don't mind I'm a 20 year old who has been forced into an ageing body, unlike Phil where it is in reverse, an ageing body trying to force himself into 20 somethings body.

Old? Geeky? I shall hear no such insolence!

For the record, I know exactly where to stand before kick off. I just happened to be looking at the line to my right (which 3 home team players also seemed to be standing 'behind') and couldn't see the two home guys kicking off because they were blocked by one of our strikers. Check the video about 18s in if you don't believe me. :D

So, what you are actually saying there is that you are so old and unfit you wouldn't actually make it back to the changing rooms at Half-Time so will just lay down in the goal for a little rest (we'll get some slippers for you but sorry no Pipe allowed).

I watched the so called goal last night and saw that it was a cracking decision by the lino.
Watch the lazy larda#se offside at the first section of play before your shot at goal somehow becomes a pass, that the Dr then slices into the righthand corner.

If that had come from anyone else but you, I'd have been insulted !)

For that, your having Garrett on your team next year.

Anyway you Cleared the whole issue up, saying I was offside in the first phase, but not in the second.

And as any football loving person knows, that can only mean the Lino was paid off by old(hasn't got a clue)nick

;) you were offside and the lino correctly only flagged when you attempted to go for the ball. A correct decision by the man in line and in full knowledge of the rules.
I don't have to pay anyone off, all i have to do is let lesser souls shake my hand and they are made up that i have deigned to let them touch me. You have a weak handshake by the way.

Tell you what, I'll turn my back on you on the goal-line, you shout turn as you hit it, and I'll still save it. I may tie my arms behind my back and close my eyes, using nothing but my athleticism and some old jedi-mind trick I learnt many years ago (the one where you can actually hear where the ball is going).
