Some important matches being played by our promotion rivals.

Brentford v Huddersfield
Carlisle v Plymouth
Hartlepool v Leyton Orient
Rochdale v Notts County
Sheff Wed v Peterborough

All kick-offs at 7:45pm

It would be helpful to see some home wins or draws tomorrow.

Does seem a bit out of kilter. I've not checked but what with our game on 26th March also postponed now, we could find ourselves with 3 or 4 games in hand over our rivals for the 2nd spot with a month and a half left of the season.

Weird.

Because games can only be rescheduled for when both teams are available.

For example Saints had a game postponed against Rochdale. Rochdale however are playing Notts County tonight, so Saints can't play that game etc etc

Pboro look very consistent. Good luck to them, it's win or bust really in terms of keeping their big names. They're going to make us fight for it, but maybe that's exactly what we need to be consistent ourselves? They won't win every game so even if we fail to overtake them with games in hand we'll get our chance.

If we keep in touch or even overtake them while they're in this kind of form then they're in trouble if they let it slip. If sheff weds keep up like this they're in for a relegation fight. Just wish we didn't have them on tv on Saturday. At 3pm I'd be confident of stuffing them.

You really are a smug arrogant little ar*e sometimes.

smug

–adjective, smug·ger, smug·gest.
1. contentedly confident of one's ability, superiority, or correctness; complacent.

when discussing football / saints with you.. yes for good reason.

Generally quite a humble bloke.

Sure I remember someone on here claiming to be better than Southampton based fans as they managed to get a job abroad (chalet maid?)

Posh have MK Dons away on Monday who are a millions times better than crap Sheff Wed. If they don't win and we beat Sheff Wed on Sat then beat Charlton on Tuesday, then were above them with a game in hand.

Lots of ifs there. Another if is posh go on a scorching winning streak (not unlikely the way there now playing) and we lose a couple of games (which could happen)....................

While we'd all like to think Posh won't sustain the form they've recently had, I'm not getting worried about them tonking Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at HT. I'd obviously prefer it if they didn't, but since the start of February they have conceded on average twice in every game, including shipping four at home recently against Plymouth.

Peterborough winning, in whatever manner, is not a season breaker tonight. And in fact as I mentioned before it bodes well for Saints at the weekend.

We wouldn't be anywhere near.

Top spot pretty much always goes to a team on two points per game. We've been nowhere near that, and apart from Brighton, no-one has. Last season Leeds, Norwich and Millwall were challenging for top spot. This season it's a one horse race with four clubs battling out for second, all of which have had slumps or periods of inconsistency.

League One for another season, I really do not think we will win all our games in hand.

It's not the games in hand we have to worry about in itself. It's the fact we will have to play 9 games in a month and the others only 7 or 6. That volume of games in such a short space of time will cost us points. We just have to hope others have problems rather than this continual winning.

It is all well and good saying win our games in hand etc.. the problem is you actually have to win them. When we played our recent game in hand vs Walsall it didn't quite go so easy did it?

Personally i think we will know our fate in the next 5 games. On paper we have a far harder run in then Huddersfield.

7 of our 11 remaining games are against teams in the top 12. 4 of those 7 being away games.

Of Huddersfields 9 games left they have 4 games left against teams in the top 12. Of those 3 are away. The rest against mostly relegation teams.

It is going to be really difficult and we have no more space to have a bad patch now. If we lose a game and they win we HAVE to win our games in hand just to get back on par with them. So really now each game puts pressure on us to win. Anymore **** ups and i think we can forget the top 2. And by **** ups i mean no more losing to the teams near the bottom i.e Walsall, if we want to get into the top 2 we realisticly have to win probably 7/8 of the 11 remaining games.

We are pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot, no need to panic. We will walk the playoffs, and I fancy another trip to Wembley (would prefer to go up automatically obviously)

Don't be a div! When have we walked anything?! We're Southampton. If we were in the Zamaretto South-West Division we'd still do our best to **** it up. That will never change, and the arrogance of some fans never failed to amaze me. Play offs this season will be more of a lottery than anyother season as EVERYONE seems to be playing so well. MK Dons and Leyton Orient are 2 teams who are making worryingly good runs late in the day...

I want us to win at least 10 games from now on. No losses.

At least Peterborough still have to go to Huddersfield, someone has to drop points there, although knowing our luck they'll both win it!!!

The form all of the teams are showing i can't see it being settled for a very long time yet.

This is the most annoying thing about the games in hand issue. Even if we win all our remaining games this season we will not be promoted until near the very end of the season due to playing catch-up the whole time.

On the plus side, I think we will win the play-offs, if we are in them, and I can also categorically guarantee that Huddersfield and Peterborough will not both win all their remaining games.

It's not a "lottery" at all. I have no idea why people say this. We will probably be playing teams inferior to us and will probably win.

We have 12 games left. Six at home. We should expect to win all home games. Winning 9 or 10 of our matches is not an unrealistic expectation.

Also, the Plymouth postponement could work out to be a good thing as they may well be relegated by the time the match comes round.
