Barnsley Away

Recommended Posts

The one time I saw us at Barnsley (2-2 draw, Rasiak scored both), there were no advance sales, only cash on the turnstiles. Hopefully won't be the same again, particularly looking in advance for in-demand away games.

When I was there last (the 1-0 smash and grab win) there were advance ticket sales.

I got train tickets to sheffield for £42 ( not great but ok ) 3 of us meeting one other in Sheffield. Will stay in Sheffield for drinks as Barnsley is awful for a pint isn't it?? Plus the police stick you in a leisure centre? minus sweaty bits of northern sort in lycra coming out cant see that being that decent.

It's not too bad. Few decent boozers in the town centre and the usual Spoons and the like. Sheffield is a much better option though.

Blades, whose ground in close to the station, are home to Brentford that day.

chesterfield are home to stevenage

anyone going up via Doncaster will be sharing the train with west ham who are going up there.

Pompey waited at Doncatser once when they had sheff utd away, i was 15 the old man and me took a hiding on the way back from newcastle. Best skate mob ive ever seen. Still doing an old man and a 15 year old sums them lot up.

I remember some West Ham on the England forum a while ago moaning that virtually every Northern bound train is dry for them. As you said though, plenty of ways of getting round it.

Why they would do that is beyond me.. West Ham haven't taken a good mob away for years.

Looks like that is the number sold then....

No chance. We will have sold a few hundred by now. Just depends whichever book of tickets they've picked up to send out at a particular time. I know of more than 13 people that already have their tickets for this.

Be suprised if we sell over 1000 though.

A couple of seasons ago a few of us were taken to a half decent pub in the town not too far away from the train station by a friendly Tyke (admittedly did wonder if we were being set up at first!!) Sorry can't remember the name but landlord was a Wednesday fan so didn't mind away fans coming in!!

A bit later mates of one of the lads with us pitch up at the station and got a police escort to the souless liesure centre!!

Spread out I guess and don't draw attention to yourselves or hire a whippet and a few ferrets for the afternoon to blend in!!!

Which is still quite pants, a good result at the weekend and a thumping win v Torquay will also help.

sheff wed and huddersfield and carlisle were all almost exactly 1000 last year, that seems to be a standard away northern following at the moment, with Ipswich a few days later can't see it being more than that.

One thousand to Barnsley whenever is not pants.

If it was reading/brighton/pompey/any rubbish london team. Then we'd take full allocation.. yet 2 hours extra up road we lose 3000 away fans near on.

That to me is pants.

Well its 4hours on train to Sheffield. 2 Hours to London HA

But it's not just an extra 2 hours though, is it?

It's an extra 2 there and 2 back, people would want to compensate for the chance of traffic on either the M1 or M6 and so would be looking at an extra 5 hours travelling in comparison to a London game.

Added to which I can get a return to London for £22 on the train, whereas it costs double that to get to Yorkshire.

London games are therefore easier to get to, cheaper and generally more fun as there's plenty of choice as to where you drink.
