Feck me.
Just tried this and it works, although who knows for how long.
You can choose tons of channels from the uk, usa, germany, france, italy and more. I just tested Sky sports one and it played on my iphone fine, the sound was slightly choppy. Then.... I was able to stream it to my TV using the apple tv box and i'm watching sky sports 2 in the living room! Genius! Currently watching West Indies vs Australia...

EDIT: the article said it works for other mobile devices too. Also, a couple of the channels appear to work on my computer, although most don't. the ioslivetv website directs you to http://supercloudtv.com/ to download something to watch channels on your computer - haven't tried it yet, will report back if it works.
