20 Twenty for 20

But, can someone explain the format - of this competition, rather than a twenty20 game - and how we've ended up with the teams that we have in the 'final'??

There are in fact two competitions. T&T v. Middlesex is one final (with prize money) and England v. Superstars is the other. The other two games are like practise games with no prize money.

Middlesex are our 20/20 Champions and T&T are the West Indian Champs.Stanford stumped up the money so the The Superstars are his team and England were available and considered good box office.
People also forget Stanford has been pumping money into West Indian cricket for years to halt its decline.The main reason he thought up this competition was to show young local kids that there is still money to earned in cricket as so many are chosing to play more lucrative
U.S. sports like Pro-Football and Basketball.

I see, so it's basically a big PR exercise for Stanford.

Fair play to him though, he does get people out to watch the games, and that can't be bad for the sport.

The only criticsm I have of Stanford is the awful jersey he makes his team play in.

While the ground looks fantastic (I think I'm right in saying that it's actually Stanford's own private stadium, which is just mental :shock:), the pitch is unbelievably slow which isn't too conducive to high-scoring Twenty20 cricket, which is a shame. For a "showcase" event such as this, ideally you'd have both teams scoring at least 180 or so.

It's nice to see Flintoff looking in pretty good shape - physically - he's certainly lost a pound or two.

Yes it is a very modern although relatively small ground near thw Airport in Antigua it is not as big or impressive as the Viv Richards Stadium in the middle of the Island.
