Ok, got a laptop, Dell D420 running Vista, we use a web page for external users to login to Citrix externally, this requires Java to be installed for some components to correctly load, the D420 in question has Java installed on it, but the web page does not recognise it as being loaded, have tried removing Java and re-downloading, have tried older versions but the verdict is always the same. The web page is definatly running though as i can login through my own laptop.

Any ideas before i wipe the bugger and start again?

Run CC Cleaner on there to make sure nothing left over in the registry.

Download Revo removal tool and uninstall Java using that.

Install firefox - see if Java works in there.

Uninstall IE 7 and redownload and install it.

Hit it with a hammer.

hate cc cleaner, dont like registry tools at all.

will try removing and reinstalling IE. Probably should have thought of that.

Does firefox run Active X?

CC Cleaner is great and unless you're a f*cking idiot it will do the job.

Probably a good idea for you not to use it as you said.

I hate registry cleaners too - but thats because most of them go gung ho - CC doesn't.

Firefox - don't think so.

I had a similar problem the other day, solved it by installing Morzilla and after that IE7 and Firefox worked OK
