I'm not ashamed to admit that I am having mixed emotions at the moment. News reports are surfacing that we are on the verge of signing the extremely promising young midfielder Jack Cork from Chelsea, which is, however you look at it, fantastic news. He has played at every standard for England below the senior team, he has been player of the year at a now rival Club at Championship level and has been desired by many other teams. The comment from a colleague on the telephone today, it nearly made me burst into tears of laughter. I allowed the comment to pass and then politely point out that;
'No, Bournemouth are not our rivals, there is only one club for that. It's great to see them doing so well.... I want us to win on Saturday of course but it would be great if we both went up.'

Alan Pardew might not be the fanfare appointment the Newcastle fans would have been hoping for after the shock and frankly scandalous sacking of Chris Hughton, but I for one don't think he is as bad an appointment as some might. I was shocked by it, yes, but that doesn't mean Pardew isn't capable.
After watching Saints for nearly 20 years, I can tell you categorically that Pardew was a major cog last year in my most enjoyable ever season.
