    Media reports are stating that Saints have agreed a fee with Vitesse Arnheim for versatile 23 year old left sided dutch defender Alexander Buttner. His move to the club is subject to a medical that will reportedly happen next week.

    Alexander Buttner has been linked with us for a couple of weeks now but despite rumoured interest from QPR he has seemingly chosen us instead.

    Buttner is a promising young player who had been picked in Holland's initial shortlist for their Euro 2012 squad after a series of impressive seasons for Vitesse Arnheim. Despite Bert van Marwijk's initial interest though he failed to make their final squad.

    Buttner will provide competition at left back for Danny Fox, although he does have history of playing on the left of midfield.
