• Saints swoop for Eagle

It has now been officially confirmed that Saints have signed Crystal Palace's extremely promising young right back Nathaniel Clyne on a four year contract. After leaks via Sky Sports and Twitter there has now been clarification that Clyne has joined on a four year contract.

21 year old Clyne has already been a reigning Crystal Palace player of the year, England u21 international and part of last years' Championship team of the year.

Despite the initial lack of word from the club, there was confirmation from Clyne's official Twitter account that he had left Crystal Palace. He also responded positively to Southampton fans welcoming him to the club and stated he was on his way to Geneva, where coincidentally enough we are holding our pre-season training camp. This morning the club OS officially confirmed Clyne's signing.

There are unconfirmed rumours on the Crystal Palace forums that Clyne declined a 'top four' club to join us as well as two offers of more money. As this is forum talk, experience on here would suggest to take that information with a pinch of salt.

Details of compensation that will be provided to Palace are currently not known, it is believed that a fee is trying to be negotiated with the Eagles so that the transfer can avoid going to tribunal.

On behalf of SaintsWeb; Good Luck Nathaniel. We look forward to seeing what you can do.
