Gazzaniga snapped up

Saints have continued their summer spending by signing promising Gillingham and ex Valencia goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga for an undisclosed fee, with Tommy Forecast moving the other way on a season long loan.



Paulo has immediately flown to join our pre-season training.

20 year old Argentine Gazzaniga, who arrived in Europe initially to play for of La Liga giants Valencia's came to England last year and joined Gillingham. A string of assured performances led to larger clubs becoming interested in the 6ft 5 South American, including ourselves. His transfer has now been confirmed for an undisclosed fee and like our other signing this week, he has commited to a four year contract with the club. Gazzaniga's signing will provide welcome competition and back-up to Kelvin Davis in a position where we had appeared quite vulnerable.

Gazzaniga has immediately joined our training camp and is in line for a debut against Evian this Saturday. In return, pariah Tommy Forecast will join the Gills on a season long loan. As he has only one year left on his contract, it is possible that this will be the last we see of him, notwithstanding Gillingham cancelling his loan.
