    Uruguay's Gaston Ramirez remains the biggest name we are linked with.

    Rumoured Incoming Players

    Gaston Ramirez, Attacking Midfielder, Bologna SC. Fee: £11-14m Est.     CONFIRMED

    The ongoing Gaston Ramirez saga appears to be drawing to a close as rumours of him taking a medical in Bologna ahead of a move to St Mary's surfaced today. Late interest from Liverpool and Tottenham continue to be mentioned but could simply be further smoke and mirrors from Bologna who need the money from the transfer. Complications had been alleged between ourselves and his former club Penarol who held a 30% stake in any future transfer but it would be a surprise if he ended up elsewhere, especially as Twitter feeds from Italy, Uruguay and someone reported to be the man himself are saying that his signing is confirmed, all we are waiting for is confirmation at our end.

    Japanese International Yoshida is linked with a move to St Mary's. A centre back, he would strengthen us where we need it most and provide a fellow countryman to keep Tadanari 'Chung' Lee company.

    Ex Ipswich Town youth team goalkepper has signed a two year deal with us after a successful trial period with the development squad.

    Another centre back, linked in the press recently but with little further movement. Would provide experience in a back line that needs far greater strength in depth.

    The names of Rhys Williams and Maynor Figueroa have also been hinted in the press, with Nigel Adkins admitting that we need more players in this position.


    Rumoured Outgoing Players

    Billy Sharp - Nottingham Forest, Loan. CONFIRMED

    An extremely late rumour on transfer deadline day, Billy Shrap has joined Nottingham Forest on loan for a season.

    Dean Hammond - Brighton and Hove Albion, Loan. CONFIRMED

    Another late one, Dean Hammond has moved to Brighton on a years loan.

    Rickie Lambert - Aston Villa or Blackburn

    One of the most disturbing rumours has been alleged interest in Rickie Lambert. Our talisman has been linked to both Aston Villa, who desperately need some inspiration after an abject start to the season and Blackburn Rovers, who's prospective signing of Jordan Rhodes appears to have put paid to their alleged interest. It would be devastating to lose our key man and a shock if this was any more then paper talk.

    Steve De Ridder

    Steve has struggled to hold down a first team place despite showing signs of promise. With Makuya arriving and Ramirez seemingly on his way a move to re-ignite his career abroad would make a lot of sense.

    Dan Seaborne

    Despite our current shortcomings at centre back, long time injured defender Seaborne has been linked with a loan move away on Twitter with Ipswich mentioned as a possible destination. Surely a deal that could only happen if we bring in more then one other central defender.
