    Pressumably in response to Kelvin Davis' poor form, Saints have signed ex Celtic and Fiorentina goalkeeper Artur Boruc on a free transfer.

    Polish international Boruc had been a free agent after leaving Fiorentina in the summer, his career has seen him experience football at the highest levels with Champions League appearences for Celtic and World Cup appearances for Poland at the 2006 World Cup.

    After departing Fiorentina in the summer he had been without a club until last night, his signing confirmed within hours of the final whistle against Aston Villa. It is understood that Boruc's contract will last until next summer.

    After Paulo Gazzaniga's promising debut against Villa it will be intersting to see what role he will play. It is certainly reassuring to see the club take action in providing back up in an area were were showing quite a bit of weakness.
