The eloquent words of Robbie Fowler, and while it may be disingenuous to describe the side that lined-up against Leeds United as a 'premiership team,' the impact of the point must surely not be lost. The team that played at Elland Road was made up of those players who would be in our first eleven if we suffer an injury.
Leeds United cruised to a win with goals from Michael Tonge (a close range finish after Luke Varney hit the bar) El-Hadji Diouf (another close range finish after a Kelvin Davis parry) and Becchio (a late-late penalty.)
Only a bright cameo from academy winger Lloyd Isgrove provided any positive sheen to a dismal evening. The league cup may not be a priority but this performance was utterly unacceptable.
