F.A. Cup Third Round Draw - Home v Burnley
Saints have been drawn at home to Jay Rodriguez' old club and Championship high fliers Burnley in the third round of this seasons' F.A. Cup. The tie is to be played on Saturday 4th January at 3pm.

Our opponents Burnley have been surpassing expectations this season by being one of the leading lights in this years' Championship. Despite having sold top scorer Charlie Austin in the summer, manager Sean Dyche has kept Burnley scoring with Danny Ings and ex-cherry Sam Vokes scoring 15 and 10 goals respectively. Their defence has also been keen with only 13 goals conceeded in 19 games, ensuring that they currently sit top of the second tier, ahead of QPR on goal difference.
While Burnley are undefeated at home, their away record reveals two defeats, while far from shabby it is therefore thankful that we will be facing them in our own backyard. After our inglorious exit to the league cup at Sunderland it will be interesting to see if we give the competition the emphasis that many fans crave. While league position is utterly important to the club for the majority of fans nothing comes remotely close to a day at a cup final.
