Clyne & Shaw Israel Bound

Stuart Pearce has today announced his 23 man squad to travel to Israel this summer to compete in the UEFA U21 Championships.

After both receiving recent call ups to the U21 England squad Pearce has included Southampton full backs Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw in his squad list. Shaw has had to twice pull out of call ups to the Under 21 side due to injury and will be hoping it can be third time lucky is Tel Aviv this summer. Clyne has already played in Pearce's side and will be hoping to appear too in Israel.
Cortese's future at Saints in doubt?

Reports have broken over the last 24 hours that our chairman Nicola Cortese is considering his future at the club. A contractual dispute with the estate of Markus Leibherr seems to be the reason for this conveniently timed drama.
The Final Day Permutations

Heading into our final game of the season against Stoke City it is still mathematically possible that Saints could finish anywhere between 10th and 18th. With thanks to forum member SaintBobby who has taken the time to put this information together, here is a guide on where Saints can finish and what it would take for us to get there.

Sunderland 1-1 Saints

After dominating the game yet conceeding, the two substitutes James Ward-Prowse and Jason Puncheon combined to grab us a valuable point that, baring a mathematic improbability, ensures our Premier League safety.

THE SAINTS ARE STAYING UP!

Both Gaston Ramirez and Danny Fox missed out due to suspension while Guly Do Prado, impressive at White Hart Lane last week, missed out due to injury.

Saints began in fine style, holding onto possession and dictating the rhythm of play. Sunderland looked laboured and workmanly, reacting rather then creating. As is becoming somethign of a stuck record, Saints simply couldn't find a final ball to finally cut open the hosts defense.

Tottenham 1-0 Saints

A much improved Saints were caught out by an 86th minute sucker punch from old-boy Gareth Bale. It was rough justice for us after putting the home side under sustained pressure and creating the clearer chances.
"No Europa League Place" - Pochettino

This morning, Maurcio Pochettino finally quashed any hopes fans may have held for Europa League qualification via the Fair Play League, with both him and Chairman Nicola Cortese agreeing that they would decline any offer of a place.
Saints 0-3 West Brom

Well, so much for a top ten finish and Europe via the fair play league. A confident and physical West Brom team brushed Saints aside at St Mary's. Southampton looked horribly off the pace and lost discipline in the second half with red cards for Gaston Ramirez and Danny Fox rounding off a terrible afternoon.
Swansea 0-0 Saints

Swansea and Saints contested a hard fought draw at the Liberty Stadium with Adam Lallana's harshly disallowed goal proving to be the talking point.

Swansea began extremely brightly against us, immediately looking to outplay us at our own game by holding possession and dictating the tempo. Luke Moore couldn't quite reach an Angel Rangel cross at close range as Swansea kept firing warnings across our bow. De Guzman had a shot bravely blocked by Jos Hooiveld as Swansea looked to immediately make us suffer.

Nathan Dyer looked to be a focal point for the Swans, targetting Danny Fox and running at him time and again. After some early wobbles though Fox grew into the game and stood firm.
