    LD Sports

Not sure if this was spotted earlier in the thread, but digging into the HTML of ldsports.uk reveals some more freaky things. The HTML description is: A quick google shows this is just this article with "Xinying Sports" replaced with "LDSports". This is surreal
  2. Ohhh Pierre Hojbjerg, the one and only man we need They said his days were numbered if he stayed in Germany But now he's on the South Coast and he ****ing hates Pompey. Ohhh Pierre Hojbjerg, the one and only twenty three He used to play for Bayern and he won the Champion's League but now he's at St Mary's without Robben and Ribery. clap clap clap
  3. I think the "boring" syle of play that Puel had us playing was massively exaggerated considering we were the single most wasteful team in the league last season. This season we just don't create anything which is super worrying. Redmond's our most creative player while being immensely frustrating to watch at times, that's saying something considering how hated he is. We seem to have absolutely no decent transition from defence to attack without Lemina. There's also an air of complacency coming through with everyone seeming to just give the ball away easily at different points of the game. Too many hopeful looping crosses from everyone, not enough hold up play from whichever forward is playing and now a fear of taking players on due to a lack of confidence from players who are usually so much better. It's boring this season. Last season was decent possession football with tons of chances but lacking a finish. This season is just void of absolutely anything.
  4. He creates more chances for himself AND other players than any other Southampton player. Like him or not, he's our best attacking outlet right now.

    Redmond

Yeh, lets bench our best attacking player who's created the most chances out of anyone
  6. Romeu absolutely dominant throughout the game, clear MOTM. Lemina had some fantastic runs but did give the ball away sometimes in dangerous positions; such an exciting player though! Redmond utterly fantastic 2nd half; played so many dangerous passes into the box and created a few decent chances for himself. Must be pretty tough having to carry all of our good attacking play whilst still having fans demanding you're dropped, but I guess that's what it's like to be the scapegoat of the season. Long, Gabbiadini and Austin all seem out of form but Long provides us with something extra so can understand why he's being started. Just hope Gabbiadini can rediscover some of his pre-injury form. He looks an utter shadow of himself and has done since then.
  7. Pretty sneaky using a photo from the Women's World Cup though...

    Lemina!

Earth, Wind and Fire - September (the chorus) Took me a while to get it haha.
  9. I think our badge is distinctive. Yeh, it is a bit childish in design but it's instantly recognisable. Take out the colour and type, it's still instantly recognisable because of the unique shape. It's not like we're stuck with one of those generic "crests" or a typical circle/shield shape. We should be proud of ours. Brands are about recognition and that's why Juventus are right up there with their new design. They took the "J" of their historical kit and made something unique and quite impressive. The fact it stood out as being truly modern, minimalist and well designed sets it apart. Quite similar to our "once modern" Saints crest.
  10. What did you think about him FACTUALLY being our best outfield player against Huddersfield and most creative player against West Ham? Or have you let the fact you simply don't like him cloud your opinions?
  11. Redmond creates 3 goalscoring chances per game (1 more than any other player), has the most shots, most successful dribbles and assisted our only goal from open play... Easily been our most creative and exciting player this season but lets drop him anyway because we just don't like him.
  12. Fatigue?? What's that?! Players are robots who can play 180 minutes a week consistently without flinching. I know he's a little radical but Ray Verheije (https://twitter.com/raymondverheije) is worth a follow on twitter. A massively talented coach who truly seems to understand fitness and fatigue with training and matches.
  13. Exactly. It was a gamble (on Long and J Rod, which I feel was right) and rectified at the earliest opportunity with the Gabbiadini signing (which also turned out pretty good for us). I think the Austin injury thing is unfair. He was absolutely clattered and ****ed up his shoulder. Nothing to do with previous injuries. His injury was as innocuous or predictable as Virgil's. The most disappointing for me about our attack was simply as a whole failing to put our horrendous amount of chances away. I don't think it was a distinct lack of quality. If anything it was psychological and a lack of any sort of luck towards the end of the season.
  14. Would we have kept 2 clean sheets to get to the final with Fonte in the team? Quite clearly replaced Fonte with Stephens (who wouldn't want a young defender who's risen up through the ranks as a replacement?). Also had Caceres as emergency cover, which we didn't end up needing. Barely conceded any goals in the tail end of last season which kinda shows we didn't miss Fonte (while he was having a calamitous time at WHU). Easy to say in hindsight but Austin was banging goals in before his innocuous injury and Long had the best season of his life the season before. Jay Rod had also come back to full fitness. When had we ever had 3 capable starting strikers? See this so many times. It's just not an argument. You don't replace "like-for-like" when you're selling players for 30-40m. Between then, Austin and Redmond got 15 goals last season (even though Austin missed 50% of it AND we went through massive goal droughts as a team). Pelle and Mane totalled 22 goals the season before. I think 15 goals out of 22 isn't bad considering Redmond has insane potential and we were missing Austin for more than half of it. People forget how woefully inconsistent both Pellè and Mané were for 40-60% of the season. You sign players who will be good for the team. Just because a player we've been monitoring has an injury, doesn't mean we should just give up and go find someone who may not be as good. It's why many people are predicting this will be his season. Would you feel differently if we'd missed out and then signed Boufal this summer for 25-30m? So you're saying we did excellent business here. Sold £30m (where is Chambers now?!) and replaced with Cedric (European Champion) and Pied (best backup RB we've had?!) for very reasonable money. We've proven time and time again that we sign £30m+ players for £5m-£10m, consistently. Why can't you learn from that? While we weren't nearly as bad under Puel as some people seem to believe, what would you have changed about the squad last season to suit his style of play? I'm not saying I think they've done a terrible job - after all we've made it to Europe, finished in the top 10 for 4 seasons in a row and made it to a League Cup Final - but we haven't actually won anything and our squad now is probably weaker than the one Pochettino started with if Van Dijk goes. Now that's just ridiculous. Our squad finished 8th without van Dijk for half of it, while apparently being mismanaged by the wrong manager. I'm sorry but you can't have a terrible squad and finish 8th with a bad manager and then somehow get worse despite changing to a better one... Think about what you're saying man, come on. Weaker than this squad (Poch's first game)? Everyone knows if you want to find out. The yearly accounts are publicly available to be read. I don't understand this. We've reiterated time and time again that he's staying. Every player has a price and obviously there haven't been any offers that match that. How could we be on the front foot? Sign a CB replacement pre-emptively so it's obvious we will sell and therefore lose the upper hand?
  15. I think it's a lot to do with MoPo but also because they learned from their mistakes in recruitment. They tried the Liverpool tactic of splashing insane cash on "flavour of the month" players and really suffered.
