I agree, totally different to our last visit and thoroughly enjoyable.
My local here in Austria was showing the Newcastle game, they've got some dodgy satellite dish.
So is anyone out here for the ski season? Great start with all the snow we've had. Currently in St Anton but move tomorrow.
It should be a decent atmosphere from the away end due to our probable low numbers. I love the Northern midweek away days.
We're having a night in Brum after for this, got the Ibis Budget (previously Etap) at £25 for the room. Doing something similar for Leeds and their Ibis Budget is only £20.
Luckily my local boozer has Channel 5 here in Austria and I fortunately have a spare two hours when the game is on so I'm delighted.
Yep, it wasn't on Sky. Standard 3pm on a Saturday, what a joy!
Agreed with many posts, superb old fashioned ground. Only been the once and on that day we had Blackstock and Best up front with about 700 of us there. Leon Osman is a little sh*t!
I was living in Igls up until late March. I'm now half way between Innsbruck and Salzburg.
You could have picked a much worse place to live in, quality little city.
Agreed, I get so f*cked off how people worship Gerrard and the fact that he can't do anything wrong. Lampard deserves his place in the squad after the 2nd half of the season he has had.
I'm surprised with the number of posts wanting to do Swansea. When we played them in the Championship it was an awful away day and not just because of the way we played on the pitch. The OB were well...
Always had a great day out for Stoke away, ground is out of the way but there are buses or just jump in a taxi. Some of the pubs are lairy but if you're sensible then it's absolutely fine.
As for...
1. Spurs - especially if that **** is still in charge.
2. Wigan - as most haven't done it we'll take a good following and I've had a good day when there previously.
3. Sunderland - really like the...
Well the relationship between us fans and Kelvin Davis has certainly improved since that day.
I suppose it all depends on the individual as to what makes a cracking away day. Some are quite content to sit on a supporters coach, arrive shortly before kick off, have a Bovril at half time and...
Same for me.
So it's over and what a fantastic journey.
Nominations for most enjoyable away day please...
Agree on the Irish bird, she was pure filth.
Anyone that doesn't sing should be escorted to the seats, this is the perfect occasion to create a superb atmosphere.
Amazing weekend lined up, providing the lads don't bottle it.
As my lot are staying in Newcastle I just checked trains for after the game. Potential trains are:
19:40 - taking 1 hour 24 minutes direct (anyone know of an off licence next to Boro station?)
or...
Sorry to be pedantic but he's a German. There is however a company based near Innsbruck in Austria called 'MANFRED W**KER LTD'. True story.
There is a dirty little off licence / newsagents outside Waterloo that I've frequented over the years before 8am, the bloke always looks at me strangely when I buy a few cans.
Agreed on the Skates game front, I'll be coming via London and was hoping to get into town early doors so this means a ridiculously early start now.
Plenty of Irish bars in Rome so they'll be your best bet.
