Default How not to clean your bike chain *NSFW*

*****LEAVE NOW IF YOU WILL BE OFFENDED BY GRAPHIC PICS*****

I will start off by saying that I am a worthless squid rookie and I suck at everything in life.
I was about to go for a ride today and my chain was pretty nasty, so I put it up on the stands and got out the wd-40 and a rag. I started the bike, put it in gear and let it idle. I sprayed the chain down really well and I put the rag up to it and it got caught and took my hand with it through the rear sprocket. I had to have everything above my last joint amputated on my index, pointer and my ring finger on my right hand. Thankfully I am left handed. It was a stupid mistake on my part and now I will forever pay the price for it. Say what you will, flame away, I don't care. I have accepted it and I take full responsibility. I made a choice (not knowing any better) and I will live with the consequences for the rest of my life. I thought I would post this so that 1.) no one else ever makes this mistake and 2.) To show that you don't have to be riding for a bike to get you hurt.

Yeouch, had a few mishaps with my finger tips in various ways over the years but nothing that extreme! I hope your fingers recover as well as can be expected from some nasty looking wounds.

I know a guy who lost his thumb doing that. He was a tool of the highest order and my boss at the time.

Please post the name on this thread, mine are looking a tad on the dead side at present, on a positive note though, the rose bush that I dug up from my nans garden after she died is flourishing..... every cloud.

I remember my first wife had a really nasty gash, she had some stuff that healed it up no problem, I'll try to remember what it was called.

I did this with my first bicycle. Lost the tip of my middle finger. And subsequently was called the Hooded Claw by my brothers growing up. Hurt like f::ck.

It's not that interesting. I'm certainly not Terry Nutkins. Just lost the padding on the top. Still got the whole nail.

You didn't say that the first time. Trying to earn e-kudos by pretending to have lost part of your finger is low.

Well i have lost part of my finger. I have no fingertip. Were i to take a photo i doubt it would excite you though.

If my parents had had the foresight to take a photo when their 4 year old son was potentially bleeding to death then i'm sure that would have given you the gruesome photo you crave though. Sadly my parents were from the old school of parenting.
