Default Car problem - help please

I have a W reg 2.0l sri Astra, I have noticed lately that is is revving on it's own when stationary, then cuts out altogether. It had a full service back in July. Any ideas what the problem could be please anyone?

Use the clutch, or get a man to drive it.

My Astra had the same problem, doesn't do it any more though after it died completely back in the summer and they fitted some new bits. Get it down Vauxhall.

About £150 I think. Was something to do with the ECU.

Not too bad then, how long did it take for yours to completely 'die' after it first started happening. This first happened to me last week.

Only about 2-3 weeks I think. The next thing was that it started not starting (if you follow). Then it died.

Could be the airflow meter, blockage in the fuelpipe but the best bet is to join a forum - www.astraownersclub.com and ask a question on the relevent forum. They'll have more knowledge than most dealers!

Could be the Cam Angle Sensor - common problem on GM cars of that era.

Follow up for you Jilly, did some checking and the normal faults for this problem is the Crank sensor + or - the EGR valve. HTH

Thats extortionate even for a dealer! I've just bought a coil pack for £40 and a crank shaft sensor for £18 for my Vectra ... the local garage are fitting them for £25 (half hour labour). Buy the parts yourself online and save a lot of £

You can just disconnect the battery for 30 mins and that will clear the codes :-)

Anyway, coil pack and crankshaft didn't fix my misfires ... so I'm on to the MAF next.
