Thread: Wayne Thomas...

  1. Default Wayne Thomas...

...is a red wine from the McLaren Vale... I was in a restaurant in Chester, saw it on the menu and had to order it (explaining my rationale to the waiter "I once asked him to score from 20 yards and he did!" I said).

If you see it and you like you red wines, buy it. It was superb.

Definitely the most surreal thread in quite some time.

    Good work LTC.
Red wine gives me a headache; so did shouting at Tommo.

Red wine matures well - so did Wayne Thomas.

Shove in the dark in your cellar, lock the door and leave for two years: should be even more mature.

I've visited the McClaren Vale region in 1981 and 1985. True story.

I'm pretty sure his family would start to miss him before the 2 years were up.

Upstairs at the Bar and Grill?
Close to the racecourse - has a bar opposite.
    The steak was also magnificent.

See above - give us a chance man! I have to work for a living as well as socialise around the country's racecourses...

I think he would like it - big, bold and beautiful is how I would describe them both!

The only similarity between WT and a good red wine is that you have to lay it down for a long time before it's any good. Then you uncork it and within a very short time it's all used up.. and you have to buy another one.

I wonder whether Pards would like a bottle? He'd probably just give it away free of charge.

A friend of mine's husband owns that place. I'll tell her to pass on your compliments.

There's quite a few Saints fans in Chester. Next time we all meet up that's where we'll go to eat.

Seriously - I don't want to sound poncy but we had the Chateaubriand between two of us and it was pretty much the best beef I've tasted. That red was not the best on the menu but I had to have a bottle and it was right up my street! The ambience was good - yep I would recommend it. I can't remember what prices were like, as I bunged it on ex's... But next time your meet up is planned let me know - any excuse to come back! (I was up for the GGs, beautiful racecourse Chester - and plenty of crumpet in evidence). Pretty much perfect evening!
