My daughter bakes a cake(s) every weekend and I normally end up eating them. Very nice too. It's ginger bread men this week, okish. Last week was refrigerator cakes, lovely.

Coffe cake (without walnuts but loads of coffee icing), lemon drizzle, and fruit cake are winners for me.

Dark chocolate cake (although not too spongey) with biscuit, mashmallow and dried fruit. Think M&S do them but not as nice as homemade.

I can never find lardy cake, where did you get that? When I was at school used to eat a whole large one from Copperfield Way. I think it was called Copperfield Stores?? is it still there?

It is a cake! hence the name. Also biscuits go soft when stale and cakes go hard!
