Thread: Greatest Ever Saints XI

    Default Greatest Ever Saints XI

I know this topic has been discussed previously but I'm interested in seeing what people's opinions are of their greatest ever Saints XI. The rules are simple:

1.Name your all-time greatest Saints XI (past and present players and any formation can be used)

    2. Any reasons why you have chosen certain players (this is optional)

I'll start with mine (bearing in mind I am only 20 so I won't know a lot of players)

    I've gone for a simple 4-4-2 formation

    Niemi
    Dodd Lundekvam Monkou Benali
    Channon Le Tissier Ball Marsden
    Shearer Pahars

Anyone who puts up a best saints XI without Mark Wright is just deluded.

Mark Wright and Dave Watson are the best 2 centre backs we've ever had.Chris Nicholl follows close behind. Lundekvam would be lucky to clean their boots.

    It's a no brainer.

Wayman instead of Shearer ....yeah right, Reeves was better.

I'm assuming you've come to that conclusion only because Neal Trotman and Callum Davenport were on loan?

Callum Davenport, how could I overlook an icon such as he.If we had played with 10 men and an apprentice we'd probably have come out of it better off.

Trotman;whilst not ever going to be one of the greats, was OK for a while, then he found out that Preston (was it?) wanted him back and he sort of gave up.

wright lost any credibility with me in his last season i had to lend him a coat cos he got cold not being bothered to run anymore

id completley overlooked dave watson which is unforgivable
also just for fun id put in jim steele the vision of him away at man u with his shirt ripped bloodied yet unbowed still haunts me
