It is hard for me to justify giving for example Jay Rodriguez a boost to his current ability when I've never seen him play in person. If when I get my file back I notice there is something factually wrong (like his height) rather than subjective (like his finishing) then I'll change it. I won't make any attribute changes for any Saints summer signings until the January window patch next year.

Lots of anecdotal and published evidence suggest that they do.

    This for example...

A few years ago Sports Interactive said they had over 1,500 researchers, that number has likely expanded since then as the research team has grown.

In England they have two head researchers and then researchers down to tier 9 of the pyramid. The first 5 tiers in England pretty much all have an individual club researcher, beyond that the research is often done by a league researcher with some clubs having their own individual researcher. Abroad, most nations in the world have a head researcher, it varies in terms of structure below them.

    This remains the greatest name for a football team I've ever found;

^^ Anyway..decided to restart. Got a bit bored with the European scene and decided to try my luck in Brazil. Santos to be precise....fark me how many games do we play!! Decent squad and to be honest with Neymar and Ganso I have two world class players. Not much to be said for the rest of them. Some wierd formations against me too also so interesting already!

Just finished my second season with Saints, did fantastically coming 4th in the Premier League and winning the UEFA Cup (After winning the FA cup the season before) amusingly there was no Press Conference after the final and everyone seemed pretty non plussed. The board have decided to spend £12 million on undersoil heating (which I thought SMS has and doesn't really need) so that's my finishing prize money gone instantly, I have got £24 million to spend on transfers though so happy about that, but would of preferred a stadium expansion instead of undersoil heating that'll never be used.

I'll post about my best/worst signings when I get back home

EDIT: Also I've been offered the job as Arsenal boss with double the transfer budget and triple the wage budget, I'm very tempted tbh... what do you guys think?

Are you sure about that? I've never seen undersoil heating cost anywhere near that on the game. Normally about £2m iirc. Have they not increased the stadium size as well?

Starting season 3 with Saints. Big improvements in playing squad.
Signed M Olsson from Wolves (ex WBA) £4 million
C Erickson from Ajax £5.5 million
    Aquafresca on a bosman
    Daniel Sturridge on a bosman
Matty Jarvis for £4 million from Wolves.

Erickson is out for 7 months after 1st training session.
Am down to 19 1st team players through injury after 5 games and my reserves are all on loan. Grrr

Get used to that. He's very, very injury prone. Doesn't even become that great a player.

I recommend Carlos Fierro (I think that's how you spell it), i got him for 1.3 million in my second season and now he's worth 8 million and scores for fun!

I use the Genie Scout, personally I don't find it to be cheating as scouts are too slow and don't provide enough information. Not particularly true to real life. It's not as if the more times you scout one player that you find out more about them either. Others may have a different view on that one but to me Genie Scout isn't cheating, as I say.

I looked Eriksen up and he's got a bad injury proneness rating, and there's just no point in signing someone who's going to be like that, especially if they've got a lot to do in order to improve, as they'll be injured most of the time instead of improving.

Cheap, reliable, consistent midfielders that come good quickly: Marco Verratti (in real life he's just agreed something with Juventus) and Guido Pizarro. I never got many goals out of Marco but he was good for 20 assists every season which is remarkable. Cost me £1.5m, soon gets international recognition and big Serie A clubs sniffing and he doesn't care. Pizarro I actually missed out on because Anzhi wanted to give him outrageous wages to get him to play with their team of legends in Russia. Get in there quickly and he's a bargain, I think he may even be as cheap as £2m.

You're right on that one about Genie Scout. The scouts on the game are waaaay too slow and pretty much all the talent gets gobbled up by the CPU/other teams really quickly.

Forza Lecce... third in Serie A at the halfway stage after a Pompey-tastic £60m splurge on new players. We're £14m in debt, running up a £3m loss every month and have £30m loan from the chairwoman to pay back upon her leaving. Champions League or bust for the Giallorossi...

Glad you agree Mr. Lungs - it's like Graham Carr said he'd scouted Cisse at Newcastle for SEVEN YEARS. I can't imagine he'd go to his manager and say the same vague things every single time. If you're at a lower league club you can't afford a decent scout anyway - they won't even talk to you! In real life it's not like that, a lower league scout might be just as good at finding very good players as a top flight scout.

And yes, how often do you see a kid that has been at a club for a matter of seconds after entering the game and he's gone to United or some club like that? You'll never have heard of him until he's gone. We all knew about Nick Powell, Jordan Ibe or Raheem Sterling before they'd gone. Well, I did anyway.

Has anyone else had an Academy graduate called Carl Howe join Saints? He looks like he's going to be a fantastic player from his scout reports and stats so far

Pizarro has gone to Bolton and Verratti is not in my game.
Signed a decent CM from Belgium. Only £2 million. Can't remember his name. Will post it on Sat when I'm back on the game.

We done it. We only went a bloody done it!

Opening up a six point lead on Juventus, three games to go and we have the Old Lady at home. Gennaro Gattuso's rallying call had the desired effect as the Giallorossi swept Juve aside 3-1, giving the southern italian side their very first scudetto.

£30m in debt and losing £3m per month, we're financial trouble but we've done it. Now to negotiate the final two games of the season and the summer without going into receivership. If we do, the Champions League *should* see us OK. As we're aware, it doesn't always work (see Portsmouth) but gambling the clubs entire existence for once, has paid off.

    They have been taken over.
I've sold them Erickson for £12.5 million and Bosingwa for £8.5 million.
I have replaced them with Khedira for £8.5 million (was transfer listed) and Kyle Walker from Championship side Fulham for £7.5 million and picked up Caulker from Spuds for £4.5 million. Happy with my January business

An interesting read about Sports Interactive's spilt from Eidos/Championship Manager to move to SEGA and start Football Manager in 2004, something not discussed before for legal reasons...

    http://www.edge-online.com/news/mile...ts-eidos-split

Also the first bit of news about FM13...

"Sports Interactive will unveil the latest iteration of Football Manager in the autumn, which Jacobson says will feature “less conservative” design than in the past."

So Dune won't like it then!

Any tips on getting the weekly wage budget increased. Im basingstoke in the Championship. I have asked the board and they increased my budget to 61k per week from 51k but im still struggling to even find players that will move to me on that budget (for a key player i can afford 4k a week!). I have 12 players for the up and coming season and im 2k over my budget. Any tips???

Not sure about that, but to help with squad numbers find loan listed players who require no wage contribution. Getting a parent club should help.
As far as I know, you can have as many loan players as you want but only include 4 in the match day squad...

Can you search for players on loan that dont require a fee or wage contribution? I couldnt find it so im wading through all players on loan but it takes ages, nearly every player i try to loan wants a fee which is frustrating?

Nah you can't, it is a pain in the arse but I guess it would be IRL as well.

MLG, will there be an official update by SI for next seasons squads in this game or will they not bother as it could reduce sales of the next game?

News on FM13 was going to be in late August, now won't be until mid September as Sports Interactive's Managing Director Miles Jacobson's mother has had a stroke in last few days.

As I said... news about FM13 will be unveiled in mid September. If you think all they do each year is change the colour-scheme and update the database you are very much mistaken.

Am I right in thinking that it is possible to reduce ticket prices or let kids go free to ensure a full stadium in FM12. If so can anyone enlighten me? Thanks

Your right they make it run slower and slower each year as well

But seriously this has whats turned me off getting FM11 and FM12 as FM10 even on my MBP with nice chunky ram and processor it would still want all my resources with the minimal settings used for the game.

What RAM do you have? I have an 8GB 64bit OS and mine runs quite quickly with 290,000 players retained in the DB. The laptop is about a year old, too... What settings do you run FM12 on?

2010 MBP 2.2ghz with decent ram and decent hdd speed, but the processor was always running at 100%. I do know that the new i3 and i5/i7 have no issues but I should not be hammered by a 2 year old MBP.

If I remember rightly; Mayuka has a CA of 123 and PA 150, Ramirez CA 142 and PA, didn't look up Yoshida. They're pretty solid indeed. Ramirez has a PA matched only (hopefully if MLG's done his job right!) by Shaw and Ward-Prowse!
