    errr ok then.

I don't get fans like you, no perspective on anything and everything is decided on snap points. I.e one game, one defeat, one performance.

    He was actually pretty lively.

    Get a grip.

Didn't see much of the ball tonight, give him time. He needs to settle into the team, our style of play, and most importantly - the country. You can see that his movement is quality anyway, but Cardiff's midfield closed off any channels for us to pass into him.

My Dad's verdict from the game: "Looked lively, nice first touch and got around a bit, I like him."

Football is a game of opinions.

I liked him and you can't type.

I'd say its about opinions, but yours is wrong.

I'm all for opinions, but basing an extreme opinion like that (based on 30mins) is madness and does my head in.

Saw more positive from him than negative today anyway. Lot more to come.

I agree. He didn't score a hattrick on his debut, then use his signing on fee to open a children's hospital, so we don't want him at the club. That goes for Sharp too, couldn't even be arsed to play tonight. Sharp and Lee out.

Looks lively, decent first touch, decent pace. And we've managed a decent song for him already. Think he'll be important for us this season

Amazing.....I thought his running added loads to our play and he linked up well. What exactly did Connolly offer tonight?
What has Barnard offered this year?

Utter drivel. He put in a good shift, made a couple of great last minute tackles and almost got a poachers goal. Oh and he's got bags of pace about him. For my money he will only get better with more games, but he should be 3rd in line for a strikers slot IMO.

Should start the replay next Tuesday, see what he is capable of from the start.

Harsh, Barnard's been injured most of the season. Connolly is a different class when he's on form, sadly that hasn't been for quite some time.

Very quick, get's the ball, lays it off and then speeds forward looking for a return. Impressed with what I saw. Needs to stay down for a little longer if he gets tackled like that next time. He could have got their player a yellow if he'd done that

That summarises my view on him,and response to the original post.

As for comparisons,Connolly seems only able tp play three games before he needs to be rested, and Barney - not yet fit anyway - is also untried at this level.

You are telling me he is a fair sportsman. No, don't take that from him..... Curse my idealism... But I like that!

He was faster than I expected and has a good first touch. Considering the obvious cultural and language barriers I was impressed by this early showing against one of the leagues better teams.

Sharp and Lambert will be first choice but I'm more than happy with him as an option off the bench. Will be interesting to see what his finishing is like under pressure.

De Ridder, Forte and Ngeussan are also pretty lively, And your point is ? Its just my opinion. I think is just a far east PR Machine Did you notice all the flashy camera men when he came on. Or where they all from Sky Sports ?

Lee has only just got over here, he has moved not only to a new country but a totally different culture, give him a chance for god sake. I love the way people right a player off in, what did Lee have about 25/30 mins tonight. And a few minutes Saturday. NA seemed quite happy with his cameo tonight.

i only listened to the game on radio and tbh hardly ever heard conolloy mentioned atall in first half and not much more in the second.when lee came on he sounded more dangerous and impressed both merrington and the comentator. still he has only played 60min football in a new and very tough league with new team mates so lets give him alittle longer shall we.

    Japanese Marian Pahars.

Loved it when he got clattered and was down for a short while then jumped up and ran full pelt to the edge of the box.

Anthony Gerrard gave him a royal welcome and he rolled with the punch. A good sign I feel.

The guy has come halfway around the world, to a completely different country and culture, to a team full of strangers he is barely able to communicate with, and you're slating him after just 2 substitute appearances!? Jesus wept...

Hilarious japanese accent, brilliant! Comedy genius!

And to write him off after two short sub appearances, brilliant! Football genius!

The sterotypes of lightweight asian players will hopefully just be a redundant notion in this case.

Connolly was far worse, he got completely marked out of the game. If the OP had bothered to watch, he'd have noticed Lee attempt on a number of occasions to make a run between the centre back and wing back, towards goal. Sadly our midfield and defence didn't pick these runs up, which is understandable considering he is new to the club.

I actually thought he was very exciting.

I liked he made himself out to be a bit powder puff, a matter of moments later he has cleanly wiped out a player bigger than him.
For the first time out he certainly looks like he could be a bit of handful, seems to be intelligent with it............. OP has his maggot in the water waiting for a bit.

Informed opinions would be better than countless morons.

If you watch a player for 10 or 20 games and think he's no good, fair enough. If you think he's brilliant, fair enough.

If you watch a player for one game, or half a game, and make he's rubbish or brilliant, you're an idiot. It's not an opinion, it's just the inane drivel of a knee jerk child. Sadly there are loads of them. Whether it's single players, a loss for the team or a win, they have no concept of the notion of form, no understanding of settling in, gelling, no consideration of opposition, timing, training, tactics, and apparently zero ability to learn from being proven wrong time and again.

It works both ways, and with other clubs too. I heard a forest fan after TWO games with Cotterill say 'I didn't want him but he's proven everyone wrong and he's clearly going to do a great job'. Two games. If he'd lost those two, they'd have hated him. Whether you're positive or negative, if you base everything on such short term measures, more often than not you're going to look like a ****.

I've seen Connolly go missing more than I've seen him play well for us. Maybe I've seen the wrong games, but I don't get the praise he gets. Sometimes he looks a good finisher, but he misses some really good chances too, but most of all to me he's just not involved enough. Was surprised he started tonight after the Leicester performance and other options.

Would be surprised if we see him again for a while. Lee will probably keep coming off the bench for a while then maybe start v Millwall. Sharp probably straight in, and Guly miles ahead of Connolly.

Really makes you wish there were 7 places on the bench again.

He can only get better as he learns the English game.
In my opinion he has made a great start.

Connolly put in a hell of a shift at the end of last season for the promotion push. I cant see many Saints fans forgetting that, which is probably why he gets a lot of credit on here.

Clear attempt to wind people up, and even if it wasn't there is a match reaction thread and a previous thread on Lee.
