Anyone play any NHL or NFL games?

Haven't for years now but used to love them. Anyone know if any of the current lot are decent? The shots of the EA sports ones look the same as ever and pretty expensive so tempted to get a 2011 game or something if not much different. I don't know enough to need the realism and up to date teams.

Yes that was about my level. I had the double header cartridge with Madden and NHL. Good old fashioned sensible soccer style view. The hockey fights looked brilliantly camp as well.

Been playing a fair amount of NCAA football and a little NFL. The NCAA is college (university level) football with senior players that graduate (or chose to leave early) to play in the NFL. You have the ability to recruit 16 year olds from high schools etc and build a squad in a manner similar to Football Manager developing a youth squad. The gameplay is as good if not better in some respects than NFL but you'll likely never have heard of the players, and in some instances the colleges, you'll be playing with or against. There's all sorts of actual gameday experience elements thrown into the 'background' ambiance of the game including computer generated replicas of some fans that wear costumes. Rather than chants from the fans, each university has their own fight song akin to a rather odd national anthem. Not even sure its available for xbox/ps in the UK, but I've a version from a few years ago you can have if you like.
