Default All time Multi-National Saints XI

Simple rules, pick your best all time Saints XI. Only one player per nationality though. I'm struggling, but I'll do it soon...

Le Tiss has got to be the one English player, or can we have him as foreign being from those little French (!) islands?

Golac was very much a right back/right wing back!

Most people will put Le Tissier in there as would I. But what about Alan Shearer?

Never been a fan of Fernandes - Can we do better on that side of midfield? Other than that, the first 11 is looking good

Not sure about Bart on the bench. How about Katalinic?

As much as I like Jos. Kenny Monkou in his pomp was a much better player.

If you can have a Welshman and an Englishman in an "international" team then you can have a Scotsman and put Eric Martin as sub goalie.

Do you not rate Mick Mills (although granted he played a lot as RB), Wayne Bridge or Gareth Bale?

That looks like you have put as many foreign players as you can remember and assumed that Le Tissier is the best English player we have ever had. Let me put forward a few suggestions per country rather than per position (just as a start not an exhaustive list!):

England: Le Tissier, Shearer, Keegan, Shilton, Channon, Payne, Osgood, Ball, Case
Wales: Bale, R. Davies, Rodrigues, Paul Jones
    France: Fernandes, Colleter, Schneiderlin, Bernard
    Republic of Ireland: Kenna, Connolly
    Sweden: M.Svensson, A.Svensson,
    Norway: Lundekvam, Tessem, Ostenstad
    Yugoslavia (Croatia): Golac, Katalinic
    Latvia: Pahars
    Brazil: Guly
    Trinidad & Tobago: Kenwyne Jones
N.Ireland: Nicholl, Baird, Clarke, Dowie, Magilton
    Poland: Rasiak, Saganowski, Andruszewski
    Senegal: Waigo
    Japan: Lee
    Romania: Petrescu
    Ecuador: Delgado, Chala
    Portugal: Fonte
    Holland: Hooiveld, Monkou
    Finland: Niemi
    Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic: Rudi Skacel
    Scotland: McCalliog, MacDougall
    Nigeria: Agboola
    Denmark: Ekelund
    Morocco: Kachloul

I particularly want to highlight the English players. My heart says Le Tissier as well, but many people would argue that you cannot put him ahead of Keegan, Ball, etc.

    I'd have a 25 man squad of:

    Keepers: Niemi, Bialkowski, Keller
Defenders: Baird, Golac, Monkou, Lundekvam, Fonte, Jaidi, Agboola, Bale, Van Damme
Midfielders: Belmadi, Do Prado, Ekelund, Schneiderlin, McCalliog, Townsend, Kachloul, Skacel,
Forwards Jones, Le Tissier, Pahars, Lee, Delgado

    Pick your team from that.

Eyal Berkovich, Forgot him. Uwe Rosler too, although him wasn't what I'd call good

Peach was better left back than all of them (Holmesy was better LM)
Sadly Bale would not make my team as I would have Big Ron up front to take the Welsh slot. Le Saux at LB if each of the Channel Islands can be represented, if not then Skacel made a decent fist of the job, but not sure if he ever signed.

Niemi, Golac, Lundekvam, Svensson (M), Le Saux, Berkovic, Le Tissier, Schneiderlin, Pahars, Davies R, Channon

    I love threads like this.

Gets people talking without bickering and it's all football, no politics (not that I mind those but they always descend into slagging off sessions and negativity)

    Need a thoughtful smiley thingy

Seeing as good wingers are in such short supply where's the love for our Terry? Paine was fantastic and deserves the English spot in my opinion particularly if you're going to put Big Ron in there as that would be a joy to watch
