Yep, tv for me too. Need to save cash whenever I can unfortunately.

More cash for a league game.

PLENTY of people will have bought the 3 matches for £47 deal already, and a lot of the plastic walk-up fans won't even notice it's on tv. But yeah, it'll stop a few who do know from going... including me. Glad I can save a few more quid for Prem away games.

Virgin Media planner only currently goes up to 6am that morning so I'll have to wait til tomorrow to set it to record.

That's a result. There's gonna be a lot of empty seats....

Odd one....I'll still go there, need my fix of football after going without it for months!

Good the ST has made me broke, gutted the away games i wanted to go to are right at the start of the season, no way am i gonna pay the ST off until November then il have xmas, so any games on TV is a bonus when its not a league home game.

Not going because it's on TV and then diss the JCL's?! Is that what supporters are made of nowadays? Personally I prefer to see my team play live and in doing so support the club. OK, if you can't afford it - that's tough - but to miss a home game against top opposition because it's on TV - that's pretty sad.

Result for me as well. Had a commitment in the evening that ruled me out from getting there and back in time. This means I can watch the game on TV and still get ready for 6pm departure. Thank you Channel 5.

Bonus .... saves me a couple of days unpaid leave and about 700 quid in air fares not to mention the pre / post match booze plus 3 pints and 4 burgers at halftime.

It's a pre season friendly of no consequence. If its a sunny day I doubt I'll even watch it on TV. Berating people for not paying money to watch a nothing game is taking Uberfan-ness to the extreme.

Apols if I have missed the irony, but are they 'plastic walk up fans', if they are walking up to a Friendly? The need to feel a better fan at SMS and on here is astounding. Though if it is some sort of in-joke, then really, I apologise!

I was quite happy to miss games which didn't mean anything at home last season as well - notably the whole of our Carling Cup run.

If it comes down to watching our reserves in the Cup or a non-competitive home match against watching a competitive away match, as I'm already going to all 19 home league games, I'll take the competitive away match option every time.

Not all of them, just the ones who are suddenly desperate to have any Saints match in their life now we're back in the Prem, who didn't give a toss for most of the previous 7 years. There were plenty of them around on Saturday too.

Team GB v Brazil on BBC Friday night......Cork played as part of a midfield three with Giggs and Micah Richards (...?) in a friendly with Mexico U-23s yesterday in Spain. Three 30 minute sessions-they lost one-nil.

Channel 5? Maybe this is a Europa league preliminary round? Nobody else wants to be in it.

People have lives outside of football matches. Not many people over the age of about 20 base their July Saturdays around friendly kick around matches. HTH.

Interviewer at h-t stated in chat with Steven Davis that he was Recovering from a double hernia op; was this known about by anybody outside the club? Can't recall it being mentioned.

"Minor injury" was all we'd heard until now - surprised anyone managed to work out what he was saying tbh, bit of an accent.

I actually thought the CH5 commentary was good. Both seemed to have done homework on saints. They mixed up commentating on game with some informative info with out ever waffling.
