Yeah that one was a bit off the wall innit! Something bout when people ask me to explain myself always makes me want to write nonsenses! I guess it's the same as at work when I know someone is getting irritated by me singing or whatever I always start singing even louder! I'm like a sadist!

I'm not a fan and I have no problem if he leaves before 31 Aug or if he stays as long as he puts in a decent shift if picked to play.

Oh and twitter - i think he has dis-continued his account.....or he has blocked me and I've done or said nothing to him or about him !!!

Great footballer..and luckily NA,the coaching staff and his team mates think the same.

I for one hope he has a great season for the mighty Saints.

    Good luck Punch..

Keep him. If he can keep his head down and carry on working hard.

    Much more effective than sdr

If we keep Mr Puncheon (and we will ) He will get into the 25 man Squad and once the window shuts he will go back to his old Dummy throwing hissy fitting way`s, he`s a bad apple simple as and NC/NA should have taken the 400k that was on offer from B/pool & Millwall way back and got shot. Come Jan he can fix a new deal at some other Mug of a Club on a free and spend 3-5 more Yrs throwing his toy`s around on 20k PW whilst achieving the square root of f all. Parasite s cum.

I don't like the guy personally, he seems to have a bit of an attitude problem and his Twitter outburst p!ssed me off to no end, but by all accounts he's doing very well this pre-season and if Nigel thinks he'd be useful to the squad then there's no reason why he should leave. As was mentioned in his interview for SaintsPlayer the other day, he's one of the few players in our squad that has a bit of Premiership experience (although he played that down by saying he only played about 10 games with 2 different clubs), so that could come in useful when knowing how to play against certain clubs.

Also we don't exactly have loads of wide options, so unless we sign a player or two in his position I can't see him going.

  14. Default

He seems to be working hard to turn himself around as do Saints who obviously see someone worth pursuing. If the guy can get his head in a good place and change some of his spots he may well work out

    Puncheon LEAVE NOW

It seems we will have a trend of " DNCTM threads" on players that various individuals " don't rate " for some reasons..or another.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion ...and that's clearly yours. Come back in December and see who agrees with you.

I wonder who will be courageous enought to start a DNCTM thread on Rickie Lambert.....before August 19th?

For some reasons..or another know won has been "courageous" enought to start a thread slagging of SRL.

Maybe it is because he is being quality and Puncheon flatters to deceive?

On reading all the pre-season reports ,JP has had a good pre-season and NA seems to rate him at present evidenced by his starts.Let us see how he does this season before looking backwards. If he does not cut the mustard, we need not renew his contract which is probaly due up next year.

He's been one of our best players in pre-season and was Man of the Match v Wolves. He's a talented player, the OP is ridiculous

All true but his end product is no better than Championship standard. If we seem to have a problem at the moment, it's threatening the goal with all the build-up play. That can be the difference between success and relegation in the Premier League and too often Puncheon fails with his last touch. I know he's scored a couple but that worries me too, as our some of our recognised strikers have been a bit quiet.

I'll just have to keep the faith and trust NA to make the right picks, after all, the first team squad is still over 25 strong without any further additions.

Surprised no one has picked up on this.

THEVMAN has earned my respect for his posts in the past, generally knowing what is occurring within the squad, and so I would suggest this should be noted.

That said, of course once someone has got a bit of a reputation, warranted or not, it does tend to follow them around for a bit, and some fans love nothing more than to get their teeth into someone.

Personally I trust Adkins judgement, and so far it looks like he is stepping up. He, like all of our players, has my full support.

My problem with Puncheon is that he didn't want to be a part of the TEAM when we were in League 1 after his initial spell, he didn't want to be part of the TEAM last year until he realised he had a chance to play in the prem, but despite this he was dreadful last year when he played. As soon as we got promoted he wants to be involved again. I'm all for him being more influential than SDR (thats not difficult) but I'm sure we could get rid of Punch and bring in someone else. I'd rather have Guly RM than Puncheon as well.

lets be honest...we have no idea what went on....maybe the club were also harsh on him....maybe he was badly advised...

i remember neimi virtually going on strike...yet he was still loved.
it is clear that JP is going to be part of the squad this season and IMO...will do better than many in the prem

Totally agree with this. He seems to be up for it and wants to prove himself so give him a chance ffs. He has ability - if he can now deliver for us it's all good isn't it?

Too many wayward passes and shots IMO, although I can't find any stats to back that up. I always think "if only..." whenever I see him.

Whatever happened in this past (which none of us actually know) he is part of the team now, he is working hard and he is playing well. Just get behind him FFS.

The players clearly like him. You look at pictures and he is always having a laugh with someone in training. I saw him having a joke with the linesman on Saturday too. Even THEVMAN who has become very well respected on this forum, says he is not as bad as people make him out to be.

This is the season the players really need us. I'm actually worried about how easily/quickly our fans have jumped on players backs in the last couple of years. If we start badly, I worry about the way our fans will react, I really do.

I concur that Punch played very well on Saturday -----yes, only against Wolves ----- yes, only in a friendly etc etc. But he did link up well with Clyne, showed some really good first touches, went past his man, at pace, on many occasions, put crosses over and scored a good goal from 18 yards. I have never seen him play so well, and so direct.

If he can put his "silly days" behind him and the club can too, then its almost like a new signing. Even people who've been in prison deserve the right to prove they have been rehabilitated. Lets give him a chance ay?

If fans accepted the fact that he is not fast then they might see a different player before them. Get behind him, his confidence will grow and he might do a few things for us.

we all do stupid things when young and hopefuly we all learnt from our mistakes, the same for punch as far as im concerned
new season,we all start from scratch, see ya all at the eithad

Of course his previous record doesn't help but everyone needs a second chance and if he can continue this present form then he'll be worth a place- if not. ...we have other options.

He's gone from being an arrogant little sh!t to being one of our decent attacking options this season. I still don't like him, but he can make me like him. A winning goal on Sunday would make me like him.

He has talent. Now hopefully he has some stability, he is going to be in the squad now til at least January, would like to see him start today.

He has the talent, but feel his head is not right. He did alright for Blackpool.

    He will not start tomorrow!

His goal the other night would have done him the world of good!

I wonder how many people on here who say he is arrogant and has an attitude problem have actually ever met him, or know the full extent of what's gone on? Have always backed him and will continue to do so. Great player

I, for one, think Jason is going to be a revelation this season. He's getting better with every game he plays and we're all going to be pleasantly surprised what an asset he'll be.

Just imagine what Gaston could learn from him...

I've been told he's happy here now. All he wanted was premier league football and now he has that chance. Hopefully that'll spur him on to drop some of the attitude and contribute. He's been looking good so far though.

He's not a 'Great' player though is he? Useful member of the squad potentially though.

I don't think he's a great player, but I think he is a talented one. I just wonder if he can be truly effective as a bit-part player, I think he needs a run of games to see the best of him and to allow him to form a partnership and understanding with Clyne, or whoever is playing RB.

Very useful for us. Can all 3 positions off the front man.

Though he had his best game for us today, he was immense. Great link up play with Clyne, full of energy, popped up left and right, set up the goals

Agree above. Saved his best performance for the club against Utd in the prem!

Utd couldn't get the ball off him with it being super glued to his feet.

Absolute class performance and fair play to Adkins to get him playing to his now undoubted potential.

    Top class.

The point about Adkins is a very fair one.
