Omg!
Interestingly, heard a strong rumour that Southampton may be due new owners/investors. Current chairman Cortese has been abroad with the owners over the last few weeks finalising the sale. Not sure if he's staying as part of the deal though. The new deal is fronted by ex Saints COO Andy Oldknow with the money coming from the Middle East. Not Man City rich, but stil very rich. Only dela in announcing is the 'fit and proper' test on the new owners - but that's expected to be a formality.""
Omg!
Need the new season to start soon!!!!
I've got Andy Oldknow's mobile nos so I will text him to find out.
How come you didn't post that until it was confirmed by someone on here that Cortese was on holiday?
Hmmmm.
Didn`t Oldknow have something of a `reputation` last time he was at Saints?
Not Andy Knowall for the third time.
this is from the ever reliable rumours site

Lol....
Welcome to 2008. Is that you Tommi-short-sleeved-shirt?
If the person who wrote that on football rumours doesn't know if we are due new OWNERS or a new INVESTOR then I give the story very little credibility.
Damn. I was about to throw my leiderhosen away and get my gold camel racing saddle out in celebration.
Is this from the same source as all of Corp Ho's pimpey takeover rumours a couple of years back?
To be honest if the actual owners aren't really interested I could see NC putting a consortium together to buy them out, doubt if it would change very much for the club though. Can't see NC going anywhere else at any time soon, wouldn't be surprised if he quite likes running a football club.
I'm sure Cortese once said in one of his BBC interviews that if ever the Liebherr family wanted to pull out of the club, he has people with serious funds ready to step in, take over and continue bankrolling the club, We are in no problems.
EDIT: I was right. Video at bottom of this page - 1:30 onwards...

"Southampton are in a very strong position and people envy that fact," he said.
"If there's any lack of commitment [from the family] we have a plan B. I know people with money who would have the same attitude as Markus who would join us on this. But, just to underline, the commitment of the family is 100%."

Ah, been a good year since we heard the club is for sale..
skate
This is an ongoing recycled rumour that won't go away.
No doubt absolute b0ll0cks, and any grain of credibility was gone with mention of Oldknow.
My recollection is that Oldknow left Saints under a cloud the second time, and possibly imvolved a dispute with NC, but that was some time ago so a bit blurred.
Also, once put the name Andy Oldknow in a anagram generator, it came back with 'only odd w^nk ' .

Andy Oldknow is a Director of Octagon http://www.octagonmiddleeast.com/en.html
I think we can safely dismiss this.
Rumour it's Qatari Royal family.
Is this the rumour Hypo was on about the other day or was that Alexei Cherednik's bid?
Its the PST's backup takeover plan...
Just a rumour but ever since the death of Marcus Leibherr the long term ownership has been open to question. If true, could it be a reason for transfer activity appearing to pause?
Thought you were going to say about "agentsaint" On twitter and his lambert has handed in a transfer request rumor lol
Will the new owner be happy with daleks yoyo plan?
This is rubbish IMO.
I doubt this story has any truth in it. Cortese's actions in improving the academy infrastructure and stated intention to eventually increase the stadium capacity (or even build a new one) suggests to me that he and the Liebherr family are in it for the long term and I really hope they are. Although their investment has given us a considerable advantage in the transfer market they've spent money wisely on players with the right attitude and are applying sound business sense to running the club.
More likely Cortese's has found friends capable of a Pompey takeover that would make money. Raising the Titanic and restoring the wreak to former glory would be more likely![]()
I see no actual evidence presented to support this rumour, but the possibility that the club might indeed be up for sale should not just be dismissed out of hand.
Given the circumstances a change of ownership can only be a matter of time anyway .....
Tell me which football club is not for sale?
I don't "expect" any evidence at all - I merely point out that none is forthcoming.
Is it your belief that the Liebherr family will bankroll this club for evermore just because it was their late fathers dream ?
Is this the Saints Takeover Saga thread.....????
And some common sense here. Do people really think we'd be sending out teasers of stadium expansions, training ground expansions etc etc, if they were looking to sell.
It's about time people just started to enjoy where we are going and appreciate it after the last 7 years.
Really? How so?
I'm not sure how lashing out £15M on an upgraded training ground that can't be seen yet (and apparently is over the top in requirements given that we've already achieved top ranking in Premier League Academy ratings without it) is any surefire way to sell a club and maximise profits.
Edit; I forgot the ;-) thing.....
