I signed the petition, poor guy should be allowed to decide for himself
We should have our own right to make the choice of when we wish to die.
the fact that we have to consider what prison sentence those we leave behind is going to suffer if they aide us is wrong.
i cannot imagine what it must be like to have 'locked in syndrome'but it is our the choice of the individual that should be taken into account.

Absolutey. We are humane towards sick animals, surely logic would dictate we should be humane towards sick humans too.
Sadly I have a friend who was diagnosed with MND about 8 years ago. I've watched him gradually degenerate from a football playing, loving father, to a burden (his word) on his family & society. For the last four years his life has been a constant round of wheelchair or bed bound pain, he's completely unable to breathe, wash, eat or urinate for himself, he can't even hold his head-up wihout a support on his chair, he can barely communicate, yet mentally he's as bright as he always was. It's devastaing to see someone being forced to go through this. His poor wife is at her wits end, hardly sleeping for more than 2 hours at a time, because hubby needs turning & his lungs cleared of congestion.
It's nothing short of scandalous that he and others like him cannot ask someone to assist them to pass-on with dignity.
Despite all the potential pitfalls, and the safeguards that would need to be put in place, it is a national disgrace that we don't have the option of painless euthanasia in this country.
Tony died today of natural causes. At peace finally.
Should have euphanasia in certain cases but you need to ensure that the person is of sane mind etc and take all into account.
He should have been allowed to die if he wished, surely someone else shouldnt decide that I have to live with (if I had it) a disease that would be like torture.
Scotty Bridgy - totally agree - to have to be force to starve yourself is dispicable - the law needs changing, and needs changing now
I bet if this went to a public referendum the right to die would win hands down - poxy red tape law bullsheet. A taboo we need to meet head on rather than shy away from
I reckon they pulled the plug knowing the police werent interested.
