    Default Premier League Matchday Fred

Saints obviously not in actions but there are plenty of other games to watch. Hoping for an Arsenal loss and a draw between Newcastle and Spuds in the late kick off as they will be our closest rivals for the Champions League places.

    Today's fixtures:

    Arsenal - Sunderland
    Fulham - Norwich
    QPR - Swansea
    Reading - Stoke
    West Brom - Liverpool
    Wham - Villa
    Newcastle - Spuds (17.30 KO)

For those who still crave a bit of football league action, Pompey's new team of all-stars take on Bompey at Fratton.

What's will you be hoping for?

Lee Barnard double hat-trick. As a second half substitute.

Perhaps a Fulham Vs Norwich draw

    West Ham Vs Villa draw

Stoke to beat Reading and QPR to beat Swansea

    They're probably our rivals right?

The only reason Merson had us to go down is our lack of pace out wide, which is a fair point at the moment. But when asked about Lambert he said he didn't see him scoring many goals as he doesn't have pace.

Obsession with pace or what? Holt....?

He's just sung the praises of Newcastle based on them having pace all over the place, so it does seem to be his number one way of judging a teams likely performance!

Got 4 to choose from live on tv.

    West Brom Liverpool
    West Ham Villa
    Arsenal Sunderland
    QPR Swansea

    Then Newcastle Spurs later.

Too many choices. I think I'll go for a bit of hoofball.

I don't think Le Fondre is anywhere near good enough for the Prem. Reading will struggle this year IMO.

Could say they rushed out to get all their signings done early but didn't get good enough players in...

After watching the first half on a stream I'd agree about Reading.

Saw lots of the ball early on but dire in the final third.

have said it all along...they were the team that went on one of those NPC unbeaten runs
against the likes of saints, brighton west ham etc, they conceded so so many chances and relied to hit teams on the break and take the few chances they got

play like that in the prem, a team like reading will get beaten most of the time

They might struggle because of the way they play IMO. Nothing to do with making early signings.

haha...away to man city....just don't lose by 4 and we stay off the bottom

Wonder how long it will be until qprs owners react.

I wonder how many poor results it will take before Liverpool's fans start up the Rodgers out bandwagon.

As an aside Forecast on bench for Gills, Harding starts for Forest, Barnard for Bmth, Bart for Notts Co and Lee Holmes nowhere to be seen for Preston. Either injured or tapped up by Bayern as a replacement for Robben.

I was amazed at some of the pre-season predictions for QPR and my scepticism is well founded. 4 - 0 opening day loss so far.

Losing 4 - 0 at home to Swansea? Earliest of days but that is a **** poor result given how much they've spent and what people have been predicting.

I know. but if we beat man city 4-0 tomorrow...I bet they will still be there till the end in the title race

Not sure you can compare City to QPR but I do take your point and yes as I said, earliest of days. I just think that's a really bad result and that many people have expected far too much of QPR.
