Thread: Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed

Default Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed

Seems that this fella is a real target for us, so I guess it's time to have a thread and and an obligatory YouTube video.

Seems to be incredibly pacey, with a very low centre of gravity so can do very nifty things with a football. Seems a little lightweight though.

I would imagine this is an alternative option to Matt Phillips, he will apparently only cost £3.5m and Nixon on twitter also seems to think we'll have this wrapped up pretty soon as the QPR move didn't happen.

Sorry, should have clarified what I meant. He just seems quite ''small'' - but as you said, seems powerful enough to brush past players.

He seems to have that explosive pace that we are crying out for in the final third. He'd make a huge difference just with his pace.

Nixon tweeted that he expects this and the Ramieez deal to go through in the next few days.

I guess that means Matt Phillips won't be coming.

Quite a gamble considering he pays in the Swiss league

Hopefully it works out and we get a explosive winger that takes defences apart for fun at a fraction of the price for Phillips

Thanks. I wonder where Nixon gets his info from, he really does seem well informed.

Hope not. We're going to end up like West Ham at this rate, bloated squad with seven or eight strikers - presumably with most of them ****ed off that they arent getting what they thought they'd been promised.

Put him on the HCDAJFU thread back in April.
Would be an excellent signing - better value than Matty Phillips.

Good on the ball..tricky wing play...looks strong and scores goals.....and what a gymnast...ala Kenwynne Jones..

    Too good to be true?

If he comes to the mighty Saints and does the job..great...

Plus Morgan has been missing a winger to spray his 40 yard passes to... should I say metres?

With Ramirez on one ide and Mayuka on the other he'll be spoilt for choice for those 40 metre balls

But i'm sure he's good enough to pull it off

anyway, we'll see. if he isnt and we sign this guy from Barcelona then he might be able to do it as well Two ball playing midfielders

  16. Default Emmanuel Mayuka

Having done a quick search on this lad, it seems he's very much a striker as opposed to the winger we so desperately desire.

Although I suppose if he did sign, we'd be looking to use him on the wing? His pace and power could be a real threat going forward.

I hope it's not a square peg/round hole thing again.

Coach...I have idolised you since you took me in the Tyro league under 7s side...

Once again you teach me sooooo much Your use of the Crayons on the match tactics board were a sight to behold

I am sure when Ramirez and Mayuka join forces with Morgan you will get the best out of the mighty Saints ...

Someone else mentioned this kid a week or so ago, I can't remember who it was.

Looks promising. Shame the Phillips deal seems to have gone cold. He'd have been quality.

Looks fast, two footed, strong and able to get in the box and score simple goals too.

Like a combination of Ryan Smith, David McGoldrick and Paul Moody.

He doesn't though does he, as he has been spot on with every signing we've made this year. Long before we've speculated about it being a certainty.

He's been loose in a few things, but he's got contacts close to Saints - that's obvious as far as I'm concerned.

Have you noticed he's got TWO good feet.Scoring with both left and right. About time someone in 'the know' had a closer look and acts very quickly.

Must admit he looks a very good player. Whether he fits the wing position we'd want him to play, who knows?

Exactly. Like Saints fit, Jonno Quick is the an entirely new level in pace which it is impossible for anyone else to reach.

Reckon our interest in this guy was superficial to keep the Ramirez deal on the boil and finished quick.

Totally different position. Mayuka would be the pace that we know we need, IMO an alternative to Phillips.

Ramirez is more of a playmaker than a winger really.

adkinsisourking: @reluctantnicko Hi Alan, anything on Saints incomings today?

    reluctantnicko: @adkinsisourking U think u have a striker signed up ... Mayuka

dankiz1: @reluctantnicko are saints as confident with mayuka as they were with Ramirez? Sounds v good

reluctantnicko: @dankiz1 Yes. Just need a centre half now ... maybe a left back.

Zoggers87: @reluctantnicko @dankiz1 So Mayuka wont go to QPR?

    reluctantnicko: @Zoggers87 @dankiz1 U think u r getting him ...

I know some slate him, each to their own, but Nixon is confident we are getting Mayuka ahead of QPR - he says we think we are getting him.

Would be interesting - he has blistering pace and finishing ability is good but looks a lot more of a striker than a wide player from clips Ive seen, although he seems like he could play in the front 3.

Sounds like he knows a Scout who watched him for us (or one of our Scouts)

Yeah. Dont know where he would fit in here in all honesty? I dont understand our square pegs in round holes policy? We want a winger, SO SIGN A WINGER!!!

Odd transfer strategy although for all I know he could cope perfectly fine on the wing but seems we are 'bodging' a bit?

We don't play with out and out wingers. We play with inside forwards who are comfortable on the touchline but can ultimately cut inside and get a shot off. From what I've seen, this lad is quite happy to take wide positions.
Where he differs from Jrod is that he has a pace to burn and can beat a player, critical if you play in a wide position where you're directly up against the full-back
The problem with Jrod is not that he's not a winger. Its that i) he hardly receives the ball -more attributable to Fox and ii) when he gets the ball, he always lays the ball back because he can't beat his man.

Agree in that the wide player so far havent got forward enough to really threaten and they need to in the 4-3-3 so this guy could probably do a good job out on the left.

We need pace, real pace, with a degree of what to actually do with the ball when we get there, this boy may be a great signing if true

Lambert, Rodriguez and Muyaku our options, great bit of business if true

Perhaps we're going Barca style - totally fluid up front, no traditional center forward as a target man and Rickie also fits that roving role - but we have at least two who can do CF when necessary - if we do this we need solid back line (unlike Barca?) and the rest of the team to be intelligent players who can pass, play their team mates in, take advantage when they're played in, take the chance. IMHO this is the quality of player we're signing and the quality of player we're bringing through. In NC and NA I trust.

    COYS!!!

I must admit I like the Davies ooption though, as it's also my name... :-)

  48. Default

I've said it before, its going to be a 5-5 formation with a fluid front 5. It's going to be awesome!! If you score 5 we'll score 6!!!!

    Errr..

Well ok, 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1 or even better 10-1-1-10 might work if we want to stick to numbers...oh...
