It must be Owen then who was in the Skoda Superb about 10 mins ago.

Said on Facebook a couple of hours ago that the only way I'd change my mind about sharp leaving was if we signed Owen. Good experience at Prem level and a great player to have around the younger members of the squad.

Sharp's replacement is Mayuka. Owen would be a surprise.

Owen is still class and not as old as everyone makes him out to be. Injury free alongside lambert if he stays he will scre 15/20 no problem

  7. Default

    where is he then..?

  8. Default

Anyway I still can't see it happening as we have been interested in him for months so why leave to last minute. Unless he wanted to see what else was on the table first.

Play games and end up giving him a smaller contract in terms of wage. Pay as you play would be best though.

The last ITK i had was Sharp signing for Forest. I reported it at 6.54 after getting a text from Jamie Scowcroft. Posted on here as soon as I heard and then somebody claimed he broke the news about 2 hours later. Mug.

He lives not far from me. The word here was that he favoured a move to a club nearer home. Stoke & Everton being the two mentioned. However, he said that if a move to either wasn't possible then he'd consider his options elsewhere. He said he'd sign for somebody this week and times running out. I could see it happening.

God, if we sign players like Owen then we have just turned into another desperate side chasing another PL mercenary.

No, we'd have signed a proven goalscorer in this league and somebody who our younger players could learn a lot from.

Classic view of someone overlooking a guy who has scored more top class match goals than our whole squad put together. Congratulations.

Personally think it is time for Owne to go and play 'soccer' in the USA.

He'd never leave his horses. In fact, the only reason he plays football is to support his stable....

Nothing to confirm just yet, will be an interesting few days now that the transfer window is closed.
Translation: Nobody wants me, i'll spend the next few days throwing myself at clubs.

The days of signing old lags who spend their time nursing injuries are over and thank NA and NC for that!

Odd that he has not signed for anyone yet considering he said that there was prem sides interested

On that half-witted logic we should sign Bobby Charlton.

    Owen, no thanks.

Surely as a free agent Owen can be signed at any time.

He has a while, but I think there is a free transfer deadline.

Might need an MLG confirmation, but I think a 25 man squad needs to be submitted - and that cannot be changed until Jan, therefore if you sign a free agent after the window you cannot change your 25man squad.

Believe the deadline for submitting the 25 man squad is 5pm tomorrow

Had he not been so greedy with his wage demands I'm sure he could've got premiership football somewhere.

Think you can add to it if you don't name 25, obviously only free agents can be added. Most clubs in the past have named less than 25, I would imagine with Billy & Deano going we have a space or two.

By my reckoning we have max 23 players who we could name, leaves room for 2 free agents. So expect Owen & Heskey (please no) to fill the gaps.

This. I am fairly sure that development players, eg the four we promoted to the first team squad and the two new goalkeepers would leave us well under 25.

    25-man squad rules

    - Players under the age of 21 do not have to be registered (i.e. Gazzaniga, Cropper, Shaw, Stephens, Ward-Prowse, Chambers etc)
    - There must be at least 8 Home Grown players in the squad (Not an issue for us)
    - You may leave gaps in your 25 man squad, but you must name a minimum of 18 players by the deadline. That can be added to with loan players and free agents up until the window for that closes (mid-September).

Therefore if we have space in our squad before the Free Agents & Loan deadline closes, he can be registered with us. Same as any loan or free agent we may be interested in...

I make of that he likes breakfast and prefers to eat it in the morning.

Personally don't want him here. Adkins has made a lot of the fact that we are no playing 4-3-3, in order to make us more solid and competitive in midfield. This also allows us to play an attack minded mifielder (either Lallana or Ramirez) in the middle, to help try and unlock defences.

Where does Owen fit into that? Presumably as the centre of the 3 upfront, but that offers no pace, physical presence or work rate. In short, he won't fit our system.

Add to that he would presumably want sizeable wages and his ridiculously poor recent injury record and it would just be a stupid signing.

We do not need more stickers + he would never come South - if any one was a free agent that we need i'd say Gordon would be the one!

Michael Owen, brilliant striker in his day but definitely falls into the has been category. I don't believe for one moment we are or ever have shown any interest in buying him!

    Taken from the BBC

If a club is unable to name 25 fit, over-21 players, in their squad they will be allowed to submit a list with a number of open positions that can then be filled by free agents at any time. However, clubs who do have 25 fit and over-21 players cannot deliberately leave players off the list in order to fill them with free agents between now and January 1.

So I'm guessing all the players we have have to be on the list first....I'm guessing that means people like Ryan Dickson and Danny Butterfield have to get the nod before any free agents.
