Instead of reading rubbish about sacking Adkins, read this instead.

Lies and lazy journalism. You've only got to read the first paragraph which describes JWP as a Portsmouth fan when he himself says he loves SFC. They've also got a number of transfer fees wrong and don't mention Jeff Kenna as a product our our academy, which they also say only started in the late 90s, ignoring all that had gone on before. All in all a terrible article filled with mistakes and sloppy journalism. No true saints fan will take this seriously.

Another quality article from the Grauniad, probably the best sports section of the national papers. Rest of the paper is full of sh*t mind.

Most of this is from the arsenal pre match press conference on saints player. Nigel Adkins was excellent. Really positive about the whole set up. Very interesting stuff.

To be fair the academy as it is now didn't start until the mid/late 90's before that it was the old style YTS and rep sides.

Who here said we hadn't spent enough? Very lazy post. People said we hadn't spent on quality, or in the correct areas. This still stands.

I believe that we could have spent £33m in a far better way.

So they use Mick Chanon, MLT and Shearer as evidence of how good Our youth set up is then say it didnt start until the late 90s. The article is littered with what can best be described as inconsistancies. A truly terrible piece of journalism.

I'm with you Turkish. I just can't believe the amount of articles that neglect to mention Jeff Kenna. He must be feeling so low now. If anyone has his number, can they ring him up and tell him The SaintsWeb Forum is thinking of him at this terrible time.

How do they get to 33 million then ?

That would tend to mean that Mayuka and Yoshida cost somewhere around 7/8 million between them.

    Rodriguez - £7m
    Clyne - £2.5m
    Gazzaniga - £1m
    S Davis - £800k
    Mayuka - £3.5m
    Yoshida - £2m
    Ramirez - £12m

    Total - £28.8m.

Means I'm £4.2m out somewhere going by reports of £33m. Have I missed anyone?

They're the figures that have been widely reported.

In fact, reports say Jay was closer to £6m and that Guardian article says Ramirez was £11m so that knocks the total I have down from £28.8m to £26.8m meaning I'm now £6.2m off the £33m bet spend reported.

well maybe not so much on the financial front, we'll recover a packet on Adam and Morgan if they continue to have respectable seasons in the PL and Ramirez would probably find a buyer as well.

It's the starting over etc... The unrest with the fans (there will be no matter what people say)... People having a pop at nc at the ground.... Bringing in new players and the usual immense pressure to bounce straight back up

If Yoshida is not the answer then it's going to be a long 4 months until the January window.

Yep. If we get relegated then IMO it will almost certainly be due to our failure to strengthen sufficiently at the back. I pray that yoshida is decent but even then we look short.

Maybe we've got some pre contract agreements out for players to sign in January.

Are these dynamically priced contracts where the price goes up if we do well but down if we are struggling?

Maybe the Grauniad have mixed up their pounds and euros. Given they mix up letters all the time, it wouldn't be a shock to find they can't tell the difference. Would explain most of the difference.

You still trotting out that lame old donkey? Sold all those routers and saved up all year to go to the Italian Blackpool seeking new material - and come back with nothing. You should join the "has Skacel signed yet?" team.

Yep. £26.8m is €33m. Good work from yourself, poor from the Grauniad.

We seem to be forgetting Forecast to Gillingham. That should make up the difference.
