I think you barca up da wrong tree
is Les Reed a coach then? Who are the other two guys, and is Roy Hodgeson the same man as the England Manager Woy?
They must have a **** keeper to lend us?
Puyol the other one mate......
You are Xaving a laugh
Barely worth a pique.
It's a good opportunity for FC Barcelona to learn bout modern youth development techniques. I'm glad we're willing to help out other clubs like dat. Nice for them Barcelona coaches to get to share a stage with Les Reed, Matthew Crocker and Martin Hunter, however briefly it must have been a real career highlight for them.
Heard about this. There is a follow up session at the new Metalist kharkiv training setup in the Ukraine. Reed and Hunter are going and I expect Barca representatives too.
Does this mean we are now officially the new Barcelona?
We are both the new Metalist.
well if we are so are Brighton http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthrea...-just-the-same
Most of Metalists first team regulars are South American, with the exception of Goryainov the 'keeper. I can't say that their youth set-up has produced any amazing tallents.
Must be doing something good for Reed to go all the way to Ukraine for a look around. Let's hope he takes a look at Yarmolenko whilst he's out there.
Clubs of any size can learn from other clubs of any size. Pretty arrogant club that thinks otherwise, however big they get. Plenty of tiny clubs have good ideas, so we have plenty to learn and indeed, plenty to show others I'm sure.
Just pre-empting the Turkish sarcastic anti-Saints rhetoric.
We're coming for you, we're coming for you, you dirty catalan b*stardos we're coming for you.
Their youth scouting network identifies some good young talent from South America and because of the lighter work permit restrictions they can bring them in and work with them. Good example of this is Taison their striker who they brought in from Internacional and midfielder Sebastian Blanco who joined from Argentina as a teenager.
Some of the best Ukrainian talents began at Kharkiv but often get snapped up by the bigger Russian sides and the Kiev teams. 18 year old defender Denys Barvinko is meant to be one of the best they have seen through their youth system and affiliate club Metalurh Zaporizhya and is already on the fringe of the senior squad.
They are currently ranked above Spurs in the Fifa rankings.
This is all true. What I was getting at is that they don't have any young Ukrainians making up the spine of the team, which is what Barcelona and Saints have been striding for. I would say their model is based more on Arsenal, bringing in the best young tallent from other clubs, usually abroad and developing them into their team.
Metalist have a pretty good record in the Europa League, which would explain why they are ranked higher than Spuds.
Isn't that the footballing equivalant of 'heres a picture of me and Brad Pitt', when its actually a picture of Brad Pitt and you are in the back ground somewhere.
I'm off on a study visit to Barcelona's La Masia in February, buzzing is not the word.
