Default Southampton v Newcastle 03/04 on ESPN Classic, 2.45pm

Just seen that this is on the schedule, a very entertaining game if memory serves me well. Just thought it would be good to bring to wider attention.

Cheers, put that on record. Great game indeed, the one where Blayney made the point blank save from Shearer.

I was on my Honeymoon in Jamaica at the time, so I have never seen the goals.

Also at 8.55pm they have our game against Blackburn in the 98/99 season.

My first game at St Marys so I remember it well - Shearer getting plenty of stick, a unstoppable strike from Craig Bellamy and Chris Marsden showing just why we was such a 'football genius'.

You are thinking of the 1-1 draw the season before. 03/04 game was the 3-3, the game of the Blayney wonder save from Shearer (which strangely they didn't show!), Griffit put us 3-2 up on 88 minutes and Ambrose equalised with literally the last kick of the game. A draw wasn't enough for them to get in the top 4.

Quite right - how the memory plays tricks on us old gits.

The 1-1 draw in 02/03 was a fantastic game. Two teams having a real go at each other. No idea how it ended up with only two goals. Seem to remember CMG missing a header to win it late on. Games against Newcastle around that time always seem to have been good games. One of those rare occasions when not winning didn't seem to matter so much.

Didn't WGS say that of Marsden had hair he'd have scored 3 that day?
