Thread: Newcastle new sponsor

  1. Default Newcastle new sponsor

    Wonga. Com

I know people don't like these companies but they are perfectly legal and this company sponsor a couple of other teams in the UK

Why on earth are geordie nation (can't stand that term) all of a sudden getting all upity...

Many gambling companies sponsor prem clubs as well as alcohol compaines

In fact, I remember Newcastle having their own alcoholic beverage on the shirt... And talking money, northern rock..
Did not hear a peep then

I tend to agree with the train of your thought. I guess the acid test would be whether or not you'd be happy to see them sponsor Saints' kit, or whether you'd feel it "wasn't quite right"?

It's the done things now... Getting outraged by anything mildly controversial

It's ridiculous - they already sponsor Blackpool don't they? And you can't move for gambling ads and sponsorship all over football. And beer. And crisps. And chocolate.

Football is a slag. Get over it everyone.

I agree. I was just wondering if you ( or I) would have a twinge of discomfort if they were to sponsor our shirts? It wouldn't 'feel' right to me but that's the mild irrationality that comes with being a human being - one quite often makes judgements on gut feel rather than pure logic...

I agree with the fact that it is the way football is going but I definitely know which one I'd prefer on our kit!

I've just read that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew wants his players to forget all the talk about Wonga being their sponsor and get on the pitch and give 4217%

That is more about appearance... I bet if we had budweiser or some huge global alcoholic brand.. We would think it was because we are a big club...

Newcastle fans etc never had a problem with Newcastle brown ale or northern rock blazed across their chests... But then, they are part of the mythical geordie nation

Newcastle United's Muslim players have been told by the Muslim Council of Britain to not wear their new shirts with 'Wonga.com' as the sponsor, as loan companies violate Sharia Law.

    Sharia Law?
**** me, what are they gonna wear now in the BARCLAYS Premier League, the CAPITAL ONE cup, or the Fa Cup WITH BUDWEISER?

... it wont be long before players demand their own sponsors on their shirts ... could have some fun in linking appropriate sponsors...

They only Violate Sharia law if you pay the loan back and pay the interest.

Dont pay a loan back and it will be fine as the Skates have found out.
