Difficult to make a call on anyone from 9th downwards at this stage as some teams you'd predict to do well could lose key players to bigger clubs and some who you'd expect to do badly could make some good signings.

Man City

Chelsea

Man United

Arsenal

-------

Spurs

Liverpool

Everton

Newcastle

Swansea

West Ham

West Brom

Saints

Aston Villa

Fulham

Sunderland

Norwich

Stoke

-------

Cardiff

Watford

if we get in a pacey/powerful striker, quick centre half and a winger who can create as well as score then we can be the surprise team next season. also need decent back ups in full back positions and maybe a box to box midfielder.

good summer transfer window 6th/7th (this will be cortesi's target I think so have to assume significant funds available)

fair summer transfer window 11th/12th

poor summer transfer window 15th/16th

Everyone below Liverpool down to the bottom 3 really is very close in terms of quality, a bit of form, one decent signing (i.e. Lukaku or Michu this year) and some luck with injuries can decide the positions here.

Also 3 of the current top 6 will have different managers next year. Potentially Wenger and Mancini could be out as well. That will not only cause an effect to the lower teams (i.e. someone like Laudrup could get the Everton job) but also it will have a knock on effect for signings. Players like Fellaini and Baines could leave Everton, they then could use those funds to raid some of the lower clubs. Big names like Rooney, Bale and Suarez might leave the league. A new manager could get funds at Arsenal, Mourinho will get a war chest at Chelsea, City will buy again (and need to sell surplus players as well) Even Cardiff are well backed and will spend I reckon. I would reckon Pardew and Pulis might be sweating over their jobs as well.

It's going to be an interesting summer.

I'll go for -

Chelsea

Utd

City

Spurs

Arsenal

Liverpool

Swansea

Saints

WBA

Everton

Newcastle

Sunderland

West Ham

Villa

Norwich

Cardiff

Stoke

Fulham

Watford

Hull

  • 11 months later...

A few had predicted Man Utd's finish very badly! To be expected I guess considering how badly Moyes done.

I count two people correctly predicting Saints to finish 8th. Based on the 11 predictions above (not counting jjsaint's of 1st!) it seems Saints have certainly hugely outweighed most peoples expectations (if 11 can be used as a decent enough gauge of opinion) especially we were were closer to 7th than we were 9th.
