Paul Farbrace has been confirmed as England's new assistant coach after quitting as Sri Lanka head coach.

The 46-year-old former Kent wicketkeeper will work under Peter Moores, who was appointed for a second spell in charge of England on Saturday.

Farbrace led Sri Lanka to the World Twenty20 title earlier this month.

"It's fantastic to be given the opportunity to work with your country's national team and an offer that I could not turn down," he said.

Strange this one to me as an oldie, I don't know what to think about a bloke who walks out so soon, and with very very short notice, after signing a 2 year contract.

As I read it the ECB must have approached him whilst he was obviously under that contract. I also read it as though they approached him direct rather than through

the Sri Lanka Cricket Board - not Cricket old chap. I now somehow wonder how he will behave IF England don't do very well, will he just walk away before the end of

this latest contract if he gets another offer? Mind you I wonder IF anyone will risk having him after how he has just acted I know I wouldn't.
