There's a park n ride near the Stadium.
Or come on the train and get the courtesy bus up.
£8 at the stadium, you need to get there early though. Failing that, park in town and get the bus in. OR... 3 mile cross, and a 30 minute walk. Does help when getting away though, as you don't have to deal with the traffic around the motorway junction.
I'd recommend the train to be honest, parking is a real chore anywhere the Mad Stad. The only realistic alternative when coming up by car would be, as the poster mentions above, to park somewhere south of the M4 and walk across. This was you miss the traffic chaos at the end and have a couple of pubs to chose from beforehand.
If you park at the stadium (or the dog track next door) you'll have a helluva time getting out and would be best of having a post match refresher in the Madejski hotel or the Holiday Inn round the corner.
Word of warning if you are getting the train - last one back is at 2307 tomorrow (or 2245 if you want a decent, direct service) which is a bit earlier than normal.
I'm going to try and park at the park and ride (Foster Wheeler, Shinfield Park). It has 500 spaces and is free. If you want to use the bus from there it is £3.50 Return & £2.00 for a child. Directions are on the Reading Web Site.
There's loads of offices around the Mad Stad that do matchday parking for around a fiver. There's a big car park on the right, just before the stadium, as you come from the M4 that always has spaces and is only a 2 min walk away.
Whatever you do, don't park at the Retail Park next door. There are very small signs indicating that you only get an hour and a half before you get a ticket
I've got two of the buggers just mooching round B&Q a couple of Sats that Reading have been at honme.
