Drink?

Do you not have Internet on holiday? Where do you go? Bearsy's eastern European underground lair?

Ha, no! No internet thank goodness. Glad to have an enforced break from the Internet, and phone. At the moment I'm just leaving the beautiful city of Pompey on a very glamorous ferry to France.

While I'm gone, Jonnyboy, can you keep the sexists, the pornographers, the bullies, and the miserable people in check? Thanks!

Hi folks. So who's in for a post match drink after the last home game of the season? Win or lose this game, the season has been one to remember, and deserves a d*mn good celebration.

Newcomers encouraged.... :)

(Assuming I'm still OK for that ticket, Bucks?!)

Lou.

Looks like I'll be along for this one, in the company of my good friend SO5 4BW. What's the venue?

Great!

What do you reckon on pubs guys? Shorter walk to the Farmhouse, or longer walk to the nicer Great Western? I vote for the latter, so long as ithe walk doesn't put anyone off...

Who's in? Pap you coming? We've got Bucks Saint and Goatboy so far and a maybe from Jonnyboy. Plus Fowllyd and SO5.

I'm coming down for this one, and yeah, don't mind the South Western Arms at all.

Oh, and as the game is a 12.45 kick off, drinks will be straight after the game (rather than before hand).

Hopefully you will be staying for a few hours, as I'll have to put in an appearance at my local first and then get dropped off at SWA when my mates leave.

I'd rather not take it on the chin though. ;)

I think we'll be a while, LBA. do you have anyone's number so we can warn you if we do leave?

OK, South Western Arms it is then. Will be along shortly after the match. Unfortunately I won't be able to partake of anywhere near as much beer as I'd like as I'll be driving. I'm sure SO5 will make up for this though!

Great - see you then! We'll likely be in the garden out the back unless it's raining. Pap's usually the first person people recognise, but PM me if you want to exchange numbers just to be sure.

Indeed. Nothing wrong with starting at 10am

Correct, I always adjust my drinking around kick off times. This game kicks off 2 hours 15 mins early so I'll arrive in alehouse 2 hrs 15 mins early. The only exception is Sunday 4pm kick off , when I still leave home for 3 o'clock kick off. As Mrs duck says " football is a pub crawl with a match in the middle. " She was nagging when she said it, but I thought it was quite profound.

Lady and gentlemen, what time will you be leaving the pub?

I'm not going to the game, but I *might be able to get to the pub afterwards.

The opportunity to meet both Flyd Owl and papster in the same room at the same time is just too great to pass up.

We just need to get Halo along and it'd be like some sort of word-bore version of The Blues Brothers.

Halo? Come on, we can still save the orphanage!

*'might' because I know this sort of tarting about pushes pap's patience-buttons.

Ooh, fan of The South Western here. No promises yet as I don't know what plans will be after the match. But if I'm free, I'm in!

FFS, ant.

Make this your plan.

That's the problem with the youth of today. Too much indecision. Or is it?

Does 28 count as youth? Haha.

FWIW this currently is my plan. Only hesitate to confirm as I made positive noises about one of the last meets and then legitimately couldn't make it!

Might be a wee bit hungover on Saturday as I'm visiting Brewdog in Clapham on Friday night with an old school friend...

I think the pungent aroma of herbs and spices from the subcontinent will hit us before we even see the Mohican and army jacket.

Blues Brothers? Synecdoche Siblings, I says.

If I could willingly choose a strange man to meet at a strange time and strange place, many many miles from my home, then that strange man would be you Bletch (after Graziano Pellè and the bloke from Poldark …)

However, the final promise I made to my dear parents as they handed me over to Matron at the gates of the Orphanage was that I would never willingly choose to meet a strange man at a strange time and strange place, many many miles from my home.

Ed Miliband. I've never heard them perform live; are they any good?

I look forward to hearing about your idyllic childhood in The Wales. There's lovely, isn't it.

To be honest Lou it wasn't papster, Flyd Owl and Gay Boot that 'turned my head'. I wanted to ensure that I was a member of the cocks for Lou club.

P.S. I've already been scalped.

You'll be missed - until we've had enough beer, then you'll be discussed.

It'll be like Take That without Robbie.

Much better!

Hmmm, I've really got to work out my timings here as the opportunity to meet (inter-alia) Word Cloud, C-L, the Liverpool guy and the kid (28 is kid, trust me!) is not one to miss.. However Saturday evening is football club presentation night and because the kiddies teams are also involved it starts quite early. Mind you, arriving half-cut seems a good idea as the club bar we use is not great. Train from St. Denys, taxi pre-booked (unlike last year, ah yes, it is Saturday night). I reckon I'd be easily spotted : tallish, slightly butch, built rather solidly and with footballers legs!

Anyway, this post is displacement activity for getting on with a translation from written Italian. Anybody who knows written Italian will wince: not in this document but they say things like "seasonal effing precipitation" instead of "snow". Rant over..

Well I must say, this is all looking very promising. However, we have all been lulled into a false sense of drinking security before. The inaugural meeting featured only three SaintsWeb members; had to bring Young Adult Unit #1 along to make up the numbers.

If any of you are wavering, allow me to sway you with a stirring line or two that will force you into action.

It's the last home game of the season.

Get on it, you tarts.

Henry II got nothing on me.
