Saint Matty 76 Posted 29 May, 2016 Share Posted 29 May, 2016 New 6 year deal, based on pretty much no merit other than the fact he's a local lad. Performs exceptionally well for England U21's (just made an absolutely fantastic assist in a tournament final) but has never given anything for us other than his set pieces. The added European fixtures next season should hopefully mean he gets more game time than last year (14 starts, 19 minimal sub apps) but is it time to accept he's never going to step-up and is always going to be remain a squad player here? Obviously at 21 it's a harsh claim to make but he's now made 107 Premier League appearances and it's still an enigma whether he's good enough or not. With Clasie not nailing down the second starting CM spot last season, this has to be his year if he's going to establish himself here. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
