Hi all, new poster here

Have booked flights to Prague and Milan for the European tour.

I've been to Prague before so I know the score, get accommodation in Old Town and presume the pubs around the town square will be commandeered by Saints from about 11am onwards before heading to the game..

Never been to Milan though so any ideas on where to stay or where everyone will congregate? Big city and I presume the San Siro area isn't very live and kicking except a couple hours before the match.

Cheers

Been to Milan a couple of times but only just checked the population size - 6.6 million was much larger than thought

And Naples 5 million - thought it was size of Liverpool.

Anyway makes not booking anything yet less of worry

TBH the wikipedia figures seemed far too high.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Italy

And I needed to scroll down!

Those are the population figures for the metropolitan areas (city + surrounding area). The city proper is 1.3 million, with about 5.5 million in the metropolitan area. i.e. Southampton has a population of about 250k but a metropolitan area of about 1.5 million according to the same source (wikipedia).

If only Da Vinci's Last Supper could compete with the wonder of the Titanic Museum or Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with the architecual magnificence of West Quay....

And the Duomo di Milano isn't a patch on The Bargate. No point on going there really

Went there for the Derby in January, not a great deal to do in the City, but decent transport links and the San Siro is easy to get to on the Metro.

Has tram line 5 to the ground reopened? When I was there it was closed from the McDonalds near the Metro station.

I found it pretty dull too. If you're not into art... and I went to the Lowry when we just played Man U.

Well. You brought that down to earth diggers! :-) Personally I'd go for a Soave or Lugana for pre-match drinks, or a Valtellina red with my meal. The Special Brew is for _after_ the match...

I've had Baladin and Lambrate before.

Admittedly it was a few years ago but I couldn't believe the amount of so-called graffiti (ie vandalism) in and around Milan's city centre.

Returning some months later we were surprised that it was still there. Hope its now squeaky clean in readiness for the sophisticated Saints tourists....

Didn't you live in Italy for a while?
