Ranieri sacked

Hope they go down and stay down now, would serve them right for this disloyalty. It's the players who have let them down by revolting against the man who managed the most unbelievable feat in sport ever. Goes to show how stupid this sport can be.

Also that's all they're going to be talking about instead of the final now, dunno if that's good news or not.

Mahrez and Vardy should be ashamed of themselves.

Bending over backwards to keep them and giving them £100+ a week contracts doesn't look like the good idea it did back in the summer. Vardy in particular always looked like a one season wonder that they probably should have cashed in on when Arsenal came calling.

So what was Vardy's secret last season?

Just goes to show that there is no loyalty in football whatsoever......last season might as well never have happened.

Correct there isn't, or if there is it's rare. Business meetings discussing money is what it's about.

Then again he had no connections to Leicester when he joined. He's achieved what the club wanted and can now be removed like a mechanic would chuck away a defective fuel pump.

Dilly Ding! Dilly Dong! Actually quite shameful the way that some players (The Pikey, Drinkwater and Mahrez) have under-performed this season. In some ways bound to happen as they have reached the high point and realistically have been left with nowhere to go beyond that motivation wise, as they were never going to defend the title successfully. Leicester have themselves to blame as they did not freshen up the successful side. Kante's loss needn't have been so crucial had they invested prudently in his replacement(s).

claude puel out. ranieri in ;)

league title is ours 2017/18.

in seriousness though, he should have been allowed to see the season out, and then their board should have moved on from there.

i want them relegated because they are a club similar size to us so less rivals we have for a top half spot the better for any upcoming seasons. also having players like slimani, musa, mahrez vardy, danny drinkwater all on high wages might screw them with championship level funding.

maybe give gary rowett the job for his work with Birmingham, the bloke needs to find PL experience from somewhere and he might be able to prove something, and be nice for more british managers to be in PL.

Official club statement about the sacking is pretty nicely worded actually. Something had to give. Like many others, would have liked to see a bit more faith in him but that is the way these days - so much money comes from just being in the premier league and it really is getting to the pointy end of the season. The board will not have wanted to wonder "what if" had they gone down.

Personally think this is appalling and another major blow/indication of where the game (or rather business of football is these days). Was always neutral about Leicester - let's face it prior to last year there was nothing for a Saints fan to like or dislike particularly about them.

Last year, what ever the circumstances, they simply pulled off a miracle and with old fashioned direct and exciting play - well done to them achieving something we will not see in the PL for a long long time (if ever) again - I was really jealous it wasn't us! However fair play to them - surely a more momentous occasion than our FA cup win? Had big LM relegated us the season after that, I for one would not have wanted him sacked for achieving history for us. Leicester will never again win the PL any time soon, without buying it - which the big teams and authorities will do their damnedest to stop.

Most importantly, this type of moronic action by greedy non football (so called business) men completely drives coach and horses through the argument Poch, Koeman etc. should have been more loyal to Saints. If winning the PL against odds of 5000 to 1 only buys you 9 months in your current job, there is something seriously wrong with this game. Just glad I was around to enjoy the Dell days (not the poster on here) - honest pro's, loving the footy and fans (and smokes at half time!)

I don't see what the issue is. He clearly got lucky last season and has been found out this. Good managers would have noticed the signs and shipped a few out and even Stevie Wonder could see he needed new centre backs. Lose the dressing room and you're gone, that's the modern way & has been for 20 odd years. There's not one club in the league that wouldn't bin a manager that the players wanted out, so the owner shouldn't get stick. I'd imagine a skate like fate could be awaiting them if they got relegated as none of their players on big contracts would appeal to anyone. Vardy & RM values have gone down the toilet & I doubt the new contracts have relegation clauses in. They were heading down, so had to act

Maybe Saints have been getting it right each season after all?

If certain players, after such a successful season show signs that they think they are bigger than the club and need to be coerced into staying by chucking money at them ....... sod em, get rid whilst their stock is high and invest wisely.

Maybe Ranieri has paid the price for being unable to adjust his tactics and get results when things were going bad, but there can be no doubt that he has paid the price for the players simply not doing their utmost for him. It was sheer team spirit and hard work that got them where they were last season, which has gone missing in bucket loads this season.

The trademark Vote of Confidence from The Board last week really has come home to roost ....... and was removed from The Club's Twitter Account within minutes of the announcement of his dismissal being made public.

Ah yes, those note-able old one season wonders Mane, Lallana, Wanyama etc. I'm so happy we got rid.

Lovren, Shaw, Chambers. We can't keep everyone. We can't compete when the 6th biggest club in the country has double our wage bill.

Leicester's success was on the back of the confidence/motivation of strong momentum. Next to no injuries, no cups, no Europe, meant the same 11 started virtually every game and were fresh. Never rated Morgan and Huth, bang average players, yet they defended as a team and had that huge run of 1-0 wins that got them the title. All the stars aligned. Mid table side that with the extra Europe fixtures drops a few places down the table like almost all clubs do. It's harsh on Ranieri since the expectations are so far above the level the teams actually at.
