The question you raise is valid, Utd cant match these big boys spending and the rest of the league can't match utd, so as somebody else pointed out, the big four will become the big five and it becomes a ****ing contest for the best players amoungst themselves. Where that leaves everybody else is up for debate, but football as i knew it and grew up with my Grandad and my Dad has gone...... not forever, but until this money bubble bursts

Not according to Bernie Ecclestone. Apparently he's not keen to spend all the dosh neccessary to make QPR one of the big clubs. I must say, I would have thought the revamping of Loftus Road, or the building of a new stadium, plus the building up of a club big enough to persuade people away from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs would be an expensive order.

Should be interesting if they do become one the big clubs, will make the 'big four' work harder and could be interesting. Eventually though all teh cluhbs are going to be run by rich billionaires and everything will be much more even. Football, however, will be destroyed.

I lol'd massively when City signed Robinho, they might be bothering the Arsenal for 4th place this season. Although Jo looks like a pile of crap, not worth that ridiculous fee they paid for him. Robinho will revolutionise the club and then be off to Chelsea next year for £50m.

Also the fact that Real were, pretty publicly, touting Robinho around as a makeweight in any potential Cristiano Ronaldo deal probably told Robinho that they weren't all that bothered about keeping him, so no, it's probably not a "sporting reason", rather a "morale" reason insomuch as he's now at a club who are quite clearly absolutely delighted (and probably a bit stunned!) to have him.

All the talk of the top 4 breaking away is a great idea, because in my opinion, the PL is of a poor standard outside the top four anyway. It always shows in competitions such as the UEFA cup. Spurs, Everton just couldnt compete with half decent european teams who in their own leagues, are of a similar stature as themselves
