Considering MK5 Golf, Megane, Astra, Focus but open to others.

Also....how much am i likely to get for a Mk4 Golf Gti 125bhp, 1999, 1yrs MOT, 6months Tax 109k, some SH? Better the trade or sell privately?

Correct, santos stalker.

No, just one of those VAG geeks that Ponty loves so much.

No stalking necessary anyway, seeing as you've seen fit to publish your history of car problems on a regular basis.

You've said diesel but you haven't mentioned why?

Out of the models you've mentioned, the mk5 Golf 140bhp diesel is good, and can be had in fairly 'sporty' GT / Sport spec, but used Golfs are often overpriced compared to similar cars and at that price you'd probably looking at high mileage.

Focus TDCi seems like a safe bet for your money, that's if you can find a diesel model that is sporty enough for you. Stick to the newer shape Focus if you do though, because the older Foucs has a pretty minging interior on all but the very top models, imo.

You thought about Leon TDI? They're more sporty looking than some of the others mentioned, or would it be a major no-no having a diesel version of the car of the man 'responsible' for ending your football career?

Diesel for economy, get 25mpg in the Golf.

Quite like the Focus TDCi, and will consider the Leon, but ideally don't want that many miles as the ones you posted, thinkin 60k plus.

The Golf has stung me really in teh amount it has cost to keep on the road, so i am after something newer and less abused this time.

Oh and P-I-N, the Ants will not be transferred
