Kent out of title race

Kent have somehow managed to collapse against Lancashire. They only needed 163 to win but were bowled out for 90 in their second innings, which puts them out of the title race.

Current table, including accrued bonus points:

Somerset and Yorkshire are heading for a draw, which would give them 4 points each (plus probable bonus points for more runs and wickets in Yorkshire's first innings). Durham and Sussex likewise, as Sussex are in their first innings.

Notts will almost certainly be top of the table by the end of tomorrow with a win over Surrey (Surrey are 6 wickets down and 190 runs behind in their second innings), which will put them on 178. That will make it almost impossible for us to win the title, although technically would still be in our hands as we play Notts in the final game. A win with maximum bonus points, while restricting Notts to a maximum of 3 bonus points, would see us finish above them. Unlikely though...

Correct, and Hants do need to have at least one more point: if Notts and Hants finish on the same number of points, Notts win the tie-breaker (same number of wins, but fewer losses, 3 vs. 4).

But I think Hants are almost safe from relegation.

Rules:

The side which has the highest aggregate of points

gained at the end of the season shall be the Champion

County of their respective Division. Should any sides in

the Championship table be equal on points, the

following tie-breakers will be applied in the order stated:

most wins, fewest losses, team achieving most points

in contests between teams level on points, most

wickets taken, most runs scored. At the end of the

season, the top two teams from the Second Division will

be promoted and the bottom two teams from the First

Division will be relegated.

Looks like it is on Sky as well they are showing either the Durham OR Notts game.I reckon they will chose ours..............

It's not been a bad first post-Warne season which was always going to be tough. Awful start but oddly, since Terry went the performances have been excellent and Tahir takes a lot of the credit as well, let's hope we can get him for next season. Ervine got his confidence back with the bat and Dimi with bat and ball. Great effort in the Pro-40 but would like to see Hants have more of a go at 20/20.
